Each of the four steps of this breast massage technique has a specific benefit. Step one is designed to drain the breast lymphatic system. Steps two and four are to assist in the movement of venous fluids. Step three is to keep the support ligaments in good health and to help fight against the effects of gravity.
To avoid friction and discomfort, the use of a breast cream or massage oil on clean skin is necessary. Apply the oil or cream in circular movements on the breast with the direction going from the center of the chest to the underarm area. Use only light pressure as breast tissues are delicate. This application of cream or oil acts as the first stage of the massage by warming and preparing the skin for the rest of the massage.
1. Start at the nipple and use the fingers to smooth towards the outside of the breast. This movement travels away from the nipple and uses no more pressure than would be used on an eyelid. Any more pressure than this would flatten the lymph vessels and impede the flow of fluid and toxins. Also, this slow must be slow in order to be effective.
2. With a kneading-like motion, gently massage the breast, pressing and lifting.
3. Use the hands to slowly and carefully twist and wring the breast in a clock-wise and anti-clockwise motion.
4. Placing the tips of the thumbs and forefingers together, place around the nipple and smooth outward with several moderate-pressure strokes.
