anyone here asthmatic and take herbs? or know if you can't take herbs with inhalers?

hi everyone...
i was wondering if anyone here who may have asthma or has used an inhaler would know if it is dangerous to use herbs while using an inhaler. i am not asthmatic, but i have been very sick for three weeks now and i still have inflammation of my airways, so i will have to use an inhaler used for long-term asthma maintainence for awhile now (advair). when they gave me an emergency inhaler to open out my airway right away, the prescription said not to use herbal medications while on it. but lots of medications say not to and there is no interaction. so has anyone used one and can give advice? i really want to start my program again, and i was two months in and took a month off now. i'm afraid i quit at the most critical time. is that a really bad thing? i thought the first three months were critical if you were seeing good results. anyways...any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

asthma and herbs

i have asthma and have used breast enhancement herbs and herbs for allergies. i have not had any adverse interactions with either. herbs are really dried veggies, so i dont see a problem with them. but PLEASE check with your doctor about the specific herbs and your inhaler use.

hope this helps

Hi! I am on Advair and have been on it for about five years now. I've been taking herbs and the like and have had no problems at all. But you should still consult with your doctor just in case. On a side note, make sure you rinse your mouth out with water after every use of advair. It says to do so on the box, but sometimes people don't do it. I didn't for a long while and felt like hell. I'e just started doing it in the last few weeks and feel better for some reason. Dunno know if its related but it can't hurt to follow directions!

Also, please buy very high quality herbs (no walmart or walgreens herbs!). The reason for this is that dried herbs can be contaminated with molds...Not always of course, but this would obviously be bad for allergies/asthma. High quality herbs will be less likely to have this problem, since they are coming from better companies.

Good luck!

thanks for all the help you guys...i really appreciate it!
i'm taking tinctures of organic herbs...so they are good quality i think...that that is really well worth mentioning corrie. there isn't much quality control out there in general, so we sort of have to do our own research. yeah...my doctor said to rinse my mouth as well. i guess advair is a combination of a bronchodillator and a steroid. that is what the pharmacy told me. the bronchodillators were giving me 6 hour migraines! i was in hell! but i started rinsing my mouth even with that because i didn't like the taste and started to feel better. okay guys! i think it is time to start my program again! i am going to wait until the weekend cos i have lots of things to do before then and don't want to feel pms-y all over again like i did in the beginning. it has been long enough since i have been off the other meds i took where i don't think i need to cleanse. so i'll see how it goes. thanks again!
