Thyroid Test

#1

Hi

I'm having my thyroid tested as I have persistently low temps.

If it comes back as normal does it mean that I still have to raise my temps in order for B.O to be effective?

Hi

I was a little confused if I could take B.O with low temps. According to Bountiful Breasts it's the t4 to t3 conversion that's important so I went ahead and had blood work done.

Could anyone please help me interpret the results, there is no explanation included.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone 0.6
Free T4 12.6
Free T3 4.93
Free T3 to T4 Ratio 2.6
Thyroglobulin 20.0
Peroxidase 10.0

I've just taken my temp and it's slightly higher than normal - 97.2F

Did they not mention the reference values (range) from the lab? The numbers should be written beside your own values as they differ from lab to lab.

Taking kelp will help with thyroid if that's the reason for low temp. you should also take an adrenal supp. incase that's the cause. Hope that helps.

Hi

Thanks for the advice.

I went back to look at my results and noticed there was a second attachment with the reference values.Blush

So my TSH is low but within normal range. The higher the TSH the slower the metabolism and vice versa. So I have a fairly fast metabolism.

All the others were in normal ranges as well.

So lesson learnt, low body temp doesn't necessarily mean an underactive thyroid. If I would have taken kelp to increase body temp it may have made me hyperthyroid.

Conversion of T3 to T4 is the important factor, body temp is just an indicator. And a low body temp is "normal" for me.

Next pay day I'll place an order with bountiful breast.
