Possible tummy shrinker?
December 21 2006 at 5:11 AM
organic angel  (Login organic_angel)
Hello my organic beauties. I just read an interesting article about the movie "Dream Girls". When they were talking to Beyonce about how she lost over 20lbs to star in the movie, her trainer said one of the things she drank constantly was a "special lemonade". It's supposed to be a celebrity in-thing nowdays. I'm going to give it a go, and see if I can lose some puffiness.

Recipe:
8oz water
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp maple syrup
pinch of cayenne

Cheers!

That sounds interesting. I just might give it a go as well. We all know cortisol comes from stress and the Cayenne actually acts as a stress reducer, so that actually makes sense. And of course lemon is a natural diaretic......so yeah baby...count me in too!!

Is this to get rid of tummy fat??? Cause it looks like there could be sth on it. Cayenne is known to improve circultion and improving circulation could help to get rid of fat from some peripheral tissues if I'm not mistaking. Thanx Angel!

This was all over the "entertainment" news a few months ago, once it got out what her diet trick was, she was speaking out and not recommending it, probably because they were afraid that young girls would live on the stuff and have problems and sue her.

Anyway, a trick that I learned a while back is to take the juice of a whole lemon, mix with a small amount of water the last thing before going to bed, and you will not be bloated in the morning. You are not supposed to drink anything after this, like no washing it down with extra water. I have done this before special occasions and it really works. I add a little splenda to mine.

So, I am thinking that if my little trick works, maybe the one that orgainic angel suggested works even better. I think I might try this after the holidays, can't hurt.

Thanks for the tip. --Sissy

Well, I've made my "special lemonade" Wink. It tastes pretty decent actually. I don't eat or drink anything with sugar, so the lack of in this recipe is ok by me. Word of CAUTION....be careful how much cayenne you put in. When they say a pinch, believe me, just use a pinch. I'll let you know if it takes any tummy pooch away. Smile

the lemonade diet is a cleanser, it will get rid of whatever is stuck in your intenstines, not tummy fat. also, in order for it to work u have to do it every day all day for like a couple of days. its not an additional drink that you add to your normal diet

for more info google "the master cleanse" That is what it is better known as

I just wanted to update anyone else considering this "special lemonade". I've been drinking it just like I would water or tea, and even with all the "pigging out" I did over Christmas, and I didn't have any extra bloat.

I made the special lemonade today too and honestly a pinch of cayenne in it is only just slightly noticable. I'm wondering if I have the right herb, lol!

Hi Organic Angel, what kind of maple syrup are you using without sugar? I typically just buy the sugar free kind, like log cabin, or store brand. It has bad sweetners in it I know, but I don't use it very often. I was curious what you are using? Thanks.

If it's traditional sugary maple syrup I don't see how in the heck you'd lose anything but your figure!! You should try Somersizing. :-)

Hello my organic beauties! For the ingredient specifics of my "lemonade".

REAL LEMONS. Too get the most juice out of them, you roll them on the countertop for 30seconds or so, to get the juices out of the fruit and rind. Makes a big difference.

CAYENNE 100,000 heat units. I buy it in bulk powder form, and trust me, trust me....just a pinch will do ya Wink

PURE MAPLE SYRUP Mine is from Canada. There are many options at any health food store. Absolutely no other ingredients should be on the label.

I have been making a pitcher of it daily. I actually truly enjoy it. The lemon acts not only as a diuretic, but it stimulates all of your digestive system. From your stomach to your bowels. Maple syrup adds potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and more essential minerals needed for system balance.

It definitely helped keep the bloat off while gourging on goodies over Christmas weekend. I suspect the cumulative affect is even greater than the short term.

Cheers!

Sissy: What a GREAT site you listed. Very informative. I'm sure you know by now, I'm totally into holistic and "whole" body and balance. This bit of information really emphasizes some key components of a healthy functioning body. I've not tried the actual diet or full lemon cleanse, but I'm already almost addicted to this "lemonade" now. It is superior in keeping bloat off/away, and constantly keeps my digestive system stimulated and working optimally. I've been drinking a 2 quart pitcher daily for a week now. LOVE THIS STUFF!

For all you organic beauties out there, take a moment to read thru the site that Sissy listed. Great info Smile

Jelly: I thought I'd let you know that I"m leaving for holiday (10 days) tomorrow, and being the spontaneous person I am, I did almost a full 2 days of the Master Cleanse. The salt flush, lemonade, and laxative tea. Holy moly! I lost about 4 lbs, but it was all from my intestines ;(. This is definitely not something you want or can do, if your away from the loo. You might as well bring reading material, crocheting, etc, in there with you. I also think it would be way, way too difficult for me to do for more than 24 hrs at a time. I just constantly thought about food.....and sitting on a block of ice (hee-hee) I personally think that the right setting would make a longer cleanse much more doable. Like at a spa where you can just relax, get a massage, sleep and write music while you spend the majority of your time in the can. For a 24 hr cleanse though, I think it's doable at home. Again, not something to try and then go to work ladies. I'm still going to keep drinking my "lemonade" though. I'm not kidding when I say I'm addicted to it. I personally think it tastes great, and it keeps bloat away and your entire digestive system firing.

January 2 2007, 10:19 AM

Jelly: I've not tried the full diet/cleanse of this lemon diet, but I can tell you that I'm addicted to the "lemonade" recipe. I drink a 2 quart pitcher daily, and it is superior in keeping bloat away, and stimulating my digestive system to work optimally. I noticed that you said you didn't "feel the burn" I guess of the cayenne. What heat strength are you using? I use 100,000 of pure powdered cayenne and I use a fairly good "pinch" in my recipe (that is per 8oz by the way), and I sooooooo fell the heat. I know there are lesser strengths of heat 10,000; 40,000, etc, so I was wondering what heat strength you were using. I may do a shortened version of this cleanse/diet. Like 3 days. I live in a cold climate, and food equals energy in cold weather, so I don't think I'd fair too well on a longer than 3 day cleanse. Let me know if you decide to do the diet/cleanse. I'd be very interested in your results.

Happy New Year!

p.s. how is your tummy doing my organic sister? I hope you are comfortable and not in too much pain.

wow it all sounds so exciting !!!!! ok so Im addicted to my version of the drink I have hot water with lemon juice ,alittle honey and cayenne pepper and I love it !!!!! Im sure its great for clearing the liver and a great metabolism starter. I read someones journal on doing the master cleanse and from what I understand youd really need to stay at home for 10 days to do it properly as you have to take a senna tea and salt water too and you need to go to the loo frequently na d urgently but it does sound awesome . personally I think a severe cleanse would be cruel to my boobs and IM not going to risk that right now just when Ive got them at thier best but I will do this cleanse eventually. GINGER !!! happy new year to you tooooo SO GRTEAT TO HAVE YOU BACK !!! RIGHT GIRL BACK TO THE WONDERUP AND MASSAGES FOR YOU YOUNG LADY ...... love jellyDeee....

January 4 2007, 9:44 PM

well my preference would always to choose fresh when ever possible and maple syrup must be ioo% pure syrup not imitation. ok so with help from the girls here and research Ive realzed there arte lots of versions of this diet floating about. The original being a cleanse in the true sense of the word, not a weight loss diet. The master cleasne is si very interesting but would take a lot of disapline to achieve! then there are the fad versions like Beyonce did. then there is ones own personal adaption which Organic angel did. and Im doing mine aswell.ok so I dont use as much mayple syrup as they say, but maybe a desertspoon and I dont drink it non stop all day cause in my guide for my tummy diet they say to eliminate sugar. but I do drink it when I get up and morning tea and afternoon tea and after dinner.I eat fresh fruits and a very little meusli for breakfast, lunch could be boiled egg sandwich with fresh salad veg No butter)and a piece of fruit and dinner I eat a safer version of what my husband has to be on the sociale side and the drink before I go to bed. I love the drink like organic angel does its quite addictive, oh and I take my protien and omega oils. well thats my version love jellly.....

thanks jelly... good to know its working for you! i finally picked up some syrup today... i dont have any honey in the house either (i know... unheard of!).

good thing you say to only use a little, because boy was the pure stuff expensive compared to the rest!

sunnymark is right... just do a search and you can pop up a few threads on the lemonade. it was suggested as a way to both get some cayenne and to keep the tummy bloat away... we shall see!!

Re: lemonade
January 27 2007, 5:40 AM

Hi Emmie! I still drink my lemonade daily. I was immediately "hooked", and it truly helps to keep puffiness away. As far as altering the recipe however, it is strongly recommeded to use only the exact ingredients, with no substitutions. I did the full Master Cleanse for 2 days before my vacations a couple weeks back, and WOW....powerful and I could never do it for longer than that. First off, don't do the full cleanse if you plan on going ANYWHERE except the closest loo. Bring books, knitting, etc. I think to get the full benefit of the cleanse, you are supposed to do it for 10 days minimum. Too much for me.

Here is the recipe for other's who have asked:

8oz pure water, preferably distilled
2 oz fresh squeezed lemon (no concentrate)
2 oz pure maple syrup (PURE meanin absolutely nothing else added)

I usually make a 2 quart pitcher each morning, and drink it through the day.

Cheers!

Just tried this lemonade with the cayenne and it is actually really good!
One more thing to add...a teaspoon of rose water...especially if you sweeten with honey...I had lemonade made like this at an Indian restaurant and it is awesome!
