Brava order procedure
March 1 2006 at 11:08 PM Christine (no login)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever I've ordered something in the past and was told the item was
backordered, my credit card was not charged at the time and was only charged when the order was shipped. I thought that was standard practice. But when I ordered from Brava recently I was told told that it would be at about 3 weeks before my order could be shipped, so I was not very happy when I discovered the next day that they had already charged my card. It would appear that this is a departure from normal business practice.

I thought it was actually against the law in the US to charge a card before the goods were available.

I don't know if it's acatually against the law, but it seems strange to me. I have never known any company do that, are you sure they did?

Not only they charged me the same day I ordered they did not send it for 2 months. Every time i called they'd lie abut the ship day. i was very upset and canceled my order.

I don't blame you. I'd have been upset about it too. They shouldn't charge you if they can't ship. nor keep chnaging delivery date. I hope you got a full refund okay without any problems.

Yes I did get my full fefund after 4or5days later. If anyone is going to order from these people please ask them when is it going to ship out or these kind of questions. otherwise u will end up 2or more months on back orders. when they dont want to loose the customer they keep liying about the ship date.

Hi Cigdem, thanks for posting that. I get the impression that this company does not treat customers fairly in any way. Charging cards, when they shouldn't, not shipping when thy said they would, taking 2 months to refund a cancelled order. It all adds up to a poor picture of the company.

Cigdem, the info at the link you posted probably deserves to appear here in full, so I'm posting it now:
"I made a terrible mistake when I purchased my Brava system from Vivian Ruben on August 5th, 2005. I knew something was wrong when she told me the company keeps $300.00 for an opened system. But I did not listen to my instincts. When the product did not arrive in the week she guaranteed it, I called to cancel my order. The rep, Cheryl Thompson, put me on hold and Vivian got on the line. She cleverly induced me into waiting a little longer for the package. Never did she inform me of the company policy on refunds.
I refused delivery of the product and it arrived at Brava on Aug 18th, 2005 @ 11:27am, signed for by A.Dominges at the receptionist desk. Cheryl sends me an email on Aug 19th stating once my product has been received, The company will not refund the amount back to my credit card, but issue a company check 6-8 weeks after they system has been returned to them. I called customer service and spoke with rep Dara Lahoud. She said the matter was out of her hands. Company policy is always to issue a company check. She referred me to the supervisor, Jessimia Garcia, who was unavailable.
There is no reason why I should have to wait 2 months to receive my $539.00 in the form of a company check. This is a serious red flag that this company is dishonest and does not have the customer's interest in mind. Could you imagine Sears or Home Depot with this company policy? It is just short of fraud. They want to keep a customer's money and collect interest. What appalling company behavior. But I guess this is to be expected in the days of Worldcom and Enron and the like. No accountability. No honesty.
Why is this 60 day check refund policy not mentioned anywhere in the advertising?"

Jane is right, in the US a supplier is not supposed to charge a card until the ordered goods are available for despatch. It seems like Brava are ignoring this rule. If so, it's an improper business practice.
