How to Balance FG & SP with Flax seeds?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi girls,
It's great to be back here!
I'm finally back from the business trip (and then holiday)....now i'm ready to fully dive into my NBE program!!

btw...I've gained 3/4" already just from taking Wonder Up + collagen powder + chicken feet soup (sporadically, especially when I was on the road) + massage (+listening to hypnosis a few times). Yay!!
But I've also gained 4 pounds on the road so...hmm...but I am gonna try not to lose the boob gain after losing the 4 pounds.

Now I am going to add to my program:
-Fenugreek (900mg)
-Saw Palmetto (900mg)
-Milk Thistle + Dandelion (300mg + 150mg)
-Borage Oil (2000mg)

Here's my question:
I just bought some ground flax seed powder. I want to use it to lower the testosterone that can potentially be boosted by Fenugreek.
Does anyone know how many table spoons/grams of the flax seed powder is sufficient per day?
(1 tbspoon = 15g)

Thanks a lot!!

My N.D. recommended around 2 tsp. at night before bed. She said to take it before bed because it acts to balance, and we don't want it to interfere with what is being taken during the day.
Hope this helps.

It is not a simple answer. Flax seed is a well known aromatase inhibitor. By keeping testosterone from aromatizing into estrogen you end up with more testosterone, in theory. The following article is interesting and does not exactly support that reasoning, but on the other hand it does not refer to the estrogen levels in adipose tissue (fat).

thanks for your reply!! Wow you have endless sources of resource
So I guess it's not the most ideal testosterone inhibitor in the long-run...I know mint tea is good too, but it's not as convenient. Do you have other suggestions?

Fenugreek does not raise testosterone per se, what it does is raise insulin a little bit, which lowers SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), which would make more testosterone available.

The effect is to raise free testosterone. But this is different on each individual. If one has high SHBG levels already then fenugreek may not have that much of an effect. If one has low SHBG levels but low testosterone levels, the difference may be a good one, not a bad one. If one has medium or high SHBG levels and high testosterone, then fenugreek may make more of a difference. If androgen affects (like acne, hair sprouting) can be directly attributed to fenugreek, then my own opinion is that there are probably other problems under the surface causing the high androgen levels.

The first thing I would suggest is to be sure that fenugreek really can be singled out as the cause of a problem before countering it with other things.

Thanks!

I actually haven't noticed anything yet...I only started taking Fenugreek & SP a few days ago. I guess I just wanted to prevent any unpleasant surprise. But I should probably get a test to see what my SHBG level is first. I guess I'll just keep taking what I am taking in moderation and see what happens. Thanks a lot for your help!! You're a rockstar!

Wahaika... I'm coming clean to my dermatologist about my NBE experiences, and the problem I had with fenugreek. I wanted to ask you, how exactly do I go about explaining that to him?

If you remember, you helped me trace my androgen problems to the effect fenugreek had on me and my starchy diet.

Diamarena,

Yep, in both cases it is because of insulin. Insulin lowers SHBG. When SHBG is lowered then one has more free testosterone. Fenugreek also has an effect on insulin. I think that it is slight, but it definitely is enough to lower blood sugar levels. But the insulin itself would still lower SHBG.

Fenugreek contains 4-Hydroxyisoleucine, which assists the pancreas in the production of insulin.

Hope this helps!
