Long time hops & FG user

Hey Isabelle, great results! What do you attribute your growth spurt to? The flax experiment?

Good morning Susan,

I hope the interview went well.

PM suppresses prolactin. So there's no swelling, and no twinges.

I just bought two bags of broken brown flax seed, each 400 g for € 1.89. That's a two month supply, even if I keep up the high dose of 30 g a day.

I'm also replacing the sweetened cereals I use in my evening hops porridge by müsli and oat flakes. Oats decrease Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), which must be going up by now, after two weeks on 30 g flax a day.

My oat flakes contain 0.33 mg vitamin B6 per 100 g oats too. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 2 mg. Above 10 mg, vitamin B6 causes sedation. That's why oat seed extract (avena sativa) is sold for sleep. I did need a nap after trying out the müsli. Müsli is sold as a breakfast cereal, but I'll keep it for the evenings Dodgy

Thank you chiquitabella,

It's hard to prove, but I think the growth spurt started because I've been stacking: just at the time when the hops was supposed to start working, I added goat's rue. At the time when the first results of goat's rue should become visible, I added flax seed.

If I would be in it for the science only, I would quit flax for two weeks now, to prove the opposite effect. And then quit goat's rue too, because I never proved the effect of goat's rue by discontinuation either. Or maca. In June, I stopped hops and fenugreek together, and that caused deflation of my breasts, even though I used milk thistle, which is not only a liver cleanser, but a phyto-estrogen too.

As I wrote in the post above, I just bought new flax seed. The success of the experiment put me in a dilemma: either buy new flax and use it, or wait another two weeks to really prove that it works. I used half of my dose this afternoon already, so the decision is half made. If you really want to know about flax, shall I stop it for two weeks?

Hi Isabelle,

What is the best way to up prolactin?

Also is goats rue working for you?

I used it for a few days in the past and felt my breasts shrunk. My breasts periodically, fluctuate in size. So it may be that I misread the signs. But anyway, I stopped using it after that time. I have it in powder form.

Also, what does tumeric do? I read somewhere that it prevents gynecomastia in men. Can it actually have the opposite effect in women i.e. help them grow breasts?

Hi Nila,

For me, goat's rue is the best prolactin upper, but I use almost twice as much goat's rue as fenugreek. Susan is doing quite well on fenugreek at the moment. Fennel is also a strong phyto-progestin. The other breast feeding herbs are:
black seed (nigella sativa)
basil
dill
caraway seed tea (carum carvi, wild cumin)
aniseed
blessed thistle
and licorice does everything: phyto-estrogen, increases prolactin, anti-androgen, and phyto-progestin.

I drink licorice tea occasionally, but don't experience swelling because of the small quantities I drink. Black seed is on my list to try, because like goat's rue and fenugreek, it's a waist slimmer.

Turmeric is as strong as hops as a phyto-estrogen, but it's a very strong phyto-progestin:

In men, strong phyto-progestins are counter-productive. Gender clinics love progestins because they turn grizzly bears into ballerinas. But the ballerinas are disappointed with their small breasts. In women, it depends. For those who tend towards estrogen dominance, PCOS, underdeveloped breasts or progesterone deficiency, it may be worth a try.

Quote:Fenugreek and fennel increase prolactin. Prolactin makes milk, so it causes swelling. Fenugreek contains diosgenin, which increases progesterone. Turmeric and fennel contain phyto-progestins. Progesterone and progestins round the breasts out, by developing the glands and alveolas. So with this bomb of swelling and roundness, you're surprised it hurts? Big Grin

So what would the proper dosage of turmeric be if fenugreek is at at least 2000mg and fennel is at 500mg a day?

By all means Isabelle, if it ain't broke then don't mess with it! Keep going until you stall! Will you keep going with the program throughout the winter or do you take a break in the winter?

Hi miabella,

Single doses of turmeric are no problem up to 8,000 mg:

and doses like this are recommended on a daily basis for arthritis:
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/406890

So it's safe, but I would be surprised if you don't suffer some discomfort at this level. Increase the dose slowly, and monitor symptoms of progesterone toxicity:

For monitoring, I keep an eye on "extreme irritability" while increasing the dose. To check my average daily dose over a longer period, I watch "dry chapped itchy skin".

I know I get these symptoms at 2,000 mg fennel seed a day. Turmeric is twice as strong:
http://www.breastnexus.com/showthread.php?tid=8419&pid=39406#pid39406
So with the fenugreek and the fennel, I think you can try 500 mg turmeric for a start.
