Yes GABA can work like melatonin during the day (I need the opposite, melatonin makes me sleep):

but the wikipedia page says it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier:

As a supplement, GABA increases Human Growth Hormone (HGH). Hops also increases HGH, see my post above. Most people here take placenta for HGH, and GorgeousBlonde found some alternatives:
