It could be overtraining, if you're tired or your muscles are sore for a few days. Too many reps or sets is overtrainning. Otherwise maybe its just temporary. Your first question could be right, especially if your muscles become sore or you feel tired. Eat some food, drink some juices or take a multivitamin.
