1. Darlin', I'm a guy (so far, but there's still hope), and I don't understand it, either!! Over a period of 8 or 9 years, I had two guitarists in my band that were "married" (one wasn't married to her, but they had 6 or 7 kids together) and the both of them STILL fucked anything in a skirt (except me, thank Buddah!!) that'd stand still long enough!!!! Apparently just one isn't enough for some guys. A lot of us are quite loyal, but, so very many screw it up for the rest of us by their "have dick: will travel" ethos!!
2. I'd say they're just being nice, but don't really want to actually talk to you anymore. I think, "Hope I can see you again" is just being nice again, although he really doesn't mean that he hopes to see you again. When you actually DO show up, or "threaten" to, he's wondering how he can get out of seeing you again. As long as you're a safe distance away, it's okay to pretend to be nice to you and SAY he hopes to see you again.
3. It's an excuse!! He doesn't want to do the long distance (or even very SHORT distance) thing with YOU. He's saying that way to keep you from being hurt. Apparently there IS SOME niceness in him, otherwise he'd just flat out tell you to shove off and never talk to him again, UNLESS, he thinks that at some point in the future, he just MAY want to "use" you for his sexual jollies again, so, best to just be nice, but burn those bridges only PART of the way.
Best advice: drop him like a hot brick!! He's not worth it!!
If you can't trust him 100%, it's doubtful it'll ever work out with you two.
