you are probably experiencing Hyperpigmentation, where due to your skin being irritated (from either the heat of the wax or the trauma of the tearing) your skin has produced a larger amount of melanin in response- darkening it.

It will probably fade back to normal shortly (just like a regular tan) however it may hang around for months or years. if it's still around a month later you may want to invest in a cream containing hydroquinone or hydrogen peroxide- both of which can lighten skin shade.
