I used to leave my massage oil on for better absorption but you're right the smell was unbearable. I was in public smelling like curry or maple syrup. I suggest washing it off if you already don't before going out. Mint/peppermint is supposed to offset the fenugreek smell. I tried looking for soaps or perfumes in those scents, but they were kind of hard to find, not to mention drying for your skin. Regular soap and water did it for me although I did have a "stale" scent that lingered for a long, long time.
For the borage oil, it is helpful because of its GLA content but you can easily swap it out for EPO which also has a high GLA content, albeit not as much, but from personal experience it has no funny smells or texture at all on top of the other hormonal benefits it offers. Hope this helps!
