Vitex causing acne? some advice pls!!!

Hi Everyone,
I've been taking Vitex for about 2 months now because my periods become very painful when I'm not on bcp. Usually I get a few spots of acne the week before my period, but after my last period my acne just kept getting worse and now it's really bad. Not just on my face, but all over my chest and back too.
I started using an acne wash, but it's not going away. I haven't had acne this bad since I was 14 years old!
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I heard Vitex was suppose to help get rid of pms related acne, but I had no acne before I was taking it. Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you!!

Yeah I didn't have acne at all before I took Vitex but EXACTLY like you, into my 2nd month of taking it... around then I started getting a few pimples. Here and there and they will disappear but come back. Don't worry. I'm pretty sure it's normal. Well definitely. Our hormones are going crazy inside us right now haha but they will eventually level out and go away again. I'm trying my best to do the all 6months of this thing. But I'm sure when we're finished it will make our skin look better than before.

I'm so glad you're on Vitex too right now! It makes me feel better, but the acne still sucks. I really hope it goes away.
Does this mean we have excess androgens in our body right now and very little estrogen? I was thinking about adding Saw Palmetto because it's said to get rid of acne, but maybe I'll wait?

It only gets rid of acne if you have excess androgens, which may be part of the balancing of vitex or it may have nothing to do with male hormones but could just be the vitex's fault in another manner. You can also try nettle root, pumpkin seeds (and oil).

Well I am just following how Karen J did it and she took it alone as most people say it's better that way. I only have about 3 months left or so. I'm looking at this as if it's just balancing out my hormones [in which it is] and when I'm done THEN I will have the fun with mixing different herbs and starting an NBE plan.
I don't suggest adding in Saw Palmetto as some said it gave them acne. Possibly try an acne cleanse? I wash my face morning and night and I noticed that putting moisturizer on it, makes it worse because your skin can't breathe. I cleanse, tone, put on anti-aging cream while avoiding the pimples; in that order. Oh and also, I got a cotton swab the other night and dabbed on rubbing alcohol/Hydrogen Peroxide on my pimples before I went to bed [without washing it off because the skin absorbs it] and put nothing else on top of it, and in the morning, they seriously cleaned up so much better. I am going to start again tonight in doing this every night with them.
I'm not sure if I have excess androgens by the way, I might but who knows. I don't think it means little estrogen though as I am estrogen-dominant.
