"The species, L. meyenii, was first described by Gerhard Walpers in 1843, and it has been suggested by botanists that the cultivated species of today may be a newer species found in Peru, L. peruvianum, (both are used interchangeably), and because of Maca's popularity as an aphrodisiac and energy enhancer, cultivation has boomed to meet the demand in the United States and abroad."
So I guess they are different strains that do the same things and it seems like the blend of different colored maca roots is what produces the best results hormonally - but I wonder what that certain blend is..
So I guess if a certain brand works for you then definitely keep using it and if it's not working - like for Ella - maybe the blend isn't the best for results or the maca itself wasn't harvested the right way.
Yeh it would seem the one I'm using might have balanced my cycle but there's no libido boost like I've had with other brands . My new one arrived today the 'P' species so see how that one goes. The current one they wouldn't elaborate on which species, either way I tolerate it well but it's running low so try the new one tomorrow
