Read up before you start just in case, because you are going directly against the common recommendation that way. Unless the bacteria is something on top of the IBS, then who knows what to do. But I'm suspicious against a high protein low healthy food diet working out long term for anyone. Sounds like a lifetime bandaid approach to avoid short term flare ups while the condition just gets worse and worse.(27-07-2017, 06:37)Chrissygwy Wrote:Whats been hard for me Chrissy is the gut condition i have feeds off fibre and carbs. So in order to starve the bacteria that migrated into the small intestine where it isnt supposed to be i was told (along with tens of thousands of others with IBS) is to eat meat and cooked veg, avoid raw foods, avoid starchy veg, avoid grains, legumes, fruit (due to sugar content)... oh and avoid prebiotic foods - CRAZY HUH!(27-07-2017, 05:28)EllaC Wrote:(26-07-2017, 20:33)solome Wrote: hi ella. just within the last 2wks i saw two documentaries on netflix, 'what the health' and 'forks over knives' both scared me into fetal position. both came down hard on meat, especially causing inflammation or metabolic acidosis ...or something like that and both came down especially hard on dairy ..especially casein. really, some people call them propaganda but both expressed scientific data and i feel a need to watch them, again. i don't eat a lot of meat anyway but i like some dairy products ..too much, i'm sure ..and eggs, they didn't spare eggs, either. as mr heston would say, damn them. damn them all to hell.
Ah yes..... THAT movie..... Yes i watched some of it, nearly **** myself! Turned it off ... Had a cry... Decided need to watch it again BUT MUCH LATER LOL need to get over the first 15 minutes and the damage done!
Very eye opening and backed by 'uncompromised' evidence done by very well educated, professionals in their own fields. And the evidence they found made them change their personal beliefs and food choices...must watch for anyone and everyone.
Sometimes we've just got to be brave enough to listen to our bodies!
Can you imagine how hard that has been. To be told you must adhere to a high protein diet in order to starve bacteria off. Then you see movies like this! Devastating. While i LOVE meat and dairy i really do id still be happy to have a high starch diet, full of beans etc and fresh fruit and veg...![]()
