Brava Body Lotion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey there!

I am currently at 6 weeks using the Brava system. I am using the Brava body lotion, and it helps reduce the redness on my skin, but I am thinking I want to try another lotion to help with the irritation and itchiness. Is there anyone out there who could recommend another body lotion I can use that works?

Also, does anyone know if I can use something else besides the Antiseptic Dome Cleanser? Brava's Skin-Care Kit is incredibly expensive ($100), and if there is a inexpensive alternative, I'd really like to use that.

Thx!!

You can use the 100% Aloe Vera gel (Fruit of the Earth brand - no alcohol). You get it behind the pharmacy for about $4 instead of the no-sting pads. Also, use the Aveeno body lotion which is much easier on the skin. The Brava stuff was too harsh. You can do a search out here on body products to get more ideas.

I have never used any skin products from Brava apart from the prep roll on (same as the wipes) and I have very sensitive skin. As long as I don't shower just before putting the domes on or right after I take them off I have no skin problems. We are all different in what method and products work best for us. I use no lotion.

I use baby shampoo to wash the domes after I use them and I am on my second cycle and they are still sticky and in good condition.

I sometimes used hydrocortisone cream after taking the domes off. It helped a lot with itchiness. Other than that I never used a cream after taking the domes off. Recently my skin seems to have gotten used to this state of affairs (I am in week 26 almost). I haven't used any creams in a while.

Some women talk about using desitin, or some sort of diaper paste in the morning, to calm down the red itchiness. I never tried it, but it seems like it might help.

Thx for your reply!! I'm using a 1% hydrocortisone spray for the itchiness but it doesn't really work. I talked to a Brava specialist yesterday and she suggested Aveeno anti-itch body lotion, so I am going to try that.

Other than that, I am really sick of having slightly raised irritated and red surfaces on my skin. I want to take a break from Brava, but at the same time, I really DO NOT want to miss a day or two. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I use Noogleberry when I take a break from Brava?

I have Noogleberry but I don't like it b/c the manual pump exhausts my hands. My hands are really tired from pumping that thing! That, and the domes dont' really stay on my skin.

Any advice is appreciated Smile

I never used the Brava kit. I use Aquaphor healing ointment for red places and then put Aloe vera gel all over...this is really soothing and cooling. This combination really keeps things calmed down. If there's a spot where the edge of domes is really irritating I use a blister bandage for a while (for instance in the middle sternum area). I find that after a while the skin gets used to Brava and less irritated.

To clean domes I use an anti-bacterial foaming handwash. I used to use baby shampoo which was fine. I wash my chest with anti-bacterial wash before putting on the no-sting skin prep wipes (which you can buy online much cheaper than Brava sells them for).
