The connection is maybe that low thyroid hormone levels can often lead to elevated prolactin levels. This is because when the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough of the thyroid hormones, the body produces more TRH (thyrotropin-releasing hormone) to compensate, which stimulates the release of TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) but also increases the release of prolactin. So a drop in thyroid hormones and an increase in prolaction do logically go together.
