1. according to brava, they said to let the skin-prep dry for around 7-8 minutes before putting on the dome. but my skin-prep box from smith and nephew said it dries in 30 seconds. BUT, from what i've experienced so far, it seems to dry up in more like 3 seconds.... should i still wait a few minutes before putting on the domes? does the skin-prep harden the skin 8 minutes later or something? how long do you wait between skin-prep and dome application?
2. aside from aloe vera gel, are there other alternatives to skin-prep wipes? have you tried aloe vera gel and if so, which brand would you recommend?
3. after wear, do you take off domes, spray, wait 5 minutes, then rinse. OR, are you supposed to rinse first, spray, wait, then rinse again?
4. once you run out of the dome cleanser, can you use johnson baby shampoo to clean the domes?
5. after taking off the domes for the first time, my skin was red and bumpy and felt really raw. what is the best way to heal raw skin? i tried slathering on tons of the brava lotion... it took all day for the skin to heal 95%. it's still around 5% irritated and it's time for my second session. i'm hoping to find a better solution to heal the skin faster so it's 100% before before my next wear.
any insight would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
HI lled34aa,
I only waited till the liquid of the wipes is dry, it is very fast, like seconds. I have never waited the 7 min recommended.
After I ran out of wipes, I quit using anything at all. I don't know if my skin became more resistant to the brava sessions or what, but I have not have any negative reaction. At the beginning I tried the aloe vera gel, but it only worked for some hours. After I started perspiring it would re hydrate and become slippery again, and the domes would loose the seal. So I don't recommend it to use instead of the wipes, only to care for the skin after the sessions.
I rinse, spray, rinse again.
Is your skin irritated where the domes touch it, or in the actual breast?
Aloe has worked for me, but you may have a more sensitive skin. I know it says in the instructions to stop if you have an irritation, but I think nobody would ever able to complete the treatment if we where to stop at every irritation. In my case it healed by itself (even continuing to use the system) and now very rarely I get any problems, but if you are prone to scarring you may want to stop. Some people have used hydrocortizone cream as well.
Best of luck
