If your breasts just grow a little bit, the change won't usually be too great. But those with a lot of breast growth will see a large difference in their nipples (generally). But they usually tend to stay to the same starting proportion to the breast, I think (although sometimes they'll grow more or less). Pregnant women will usually see a huge amount of growth in their areola-to-breast ratio, and at the same time, I've known a girl who gained 200+lbs in three months and still has almost non-existant nipples and areolas.
Like Anastasia said, you've gotta learn to embrace what you've been given. Whatever type of nipple/breast/areolas you've been given, there are men out there with a fetish for your particular kind, and even others who will love your breasts whether or not it is something they would personally choose.
I wish my areolas weren't puffy, and that they were larger. They've always been very tiny (although because they are so puffy, from the sides they look very large). With my NBE so far, they've actually grown a good bit, and are a little bit bigger on my breasts than they used to be, although the change still isn't too different. :/ You can only tell looking at my before and current pics side-by-side. They're still very small on my breasts. It makes me somewhat self-conscious, but I think once they smooth out, I'll be able to accept the size.
I have noticed that my areolas itch like crazy every once in a while, which is a sign that the skin is stretching and the areola is slowly growing. As much as I hate it (it's so embarrassing having to itch my nips all day long!), I've grown to like it, just for the simple fact that I know my areolas are growing. Although I imagine someone with slower growth might not get this symptom.
