I think there are lots of variables to consider. Race, heredity, breast size, whether the woman has bared a child, whether she breastfed or not, etc. etc. I think areolas are different for everyone. Mine are in the mid range in the scale you posted, but I have seen women that had ones as big as coffee plates. I wish mine were smaller but I know it could be worse. I think the best thing to do when it comes to breasts, nipples, and areolas is to embrace what you have.

What irritated me, was on one of the consultations I had with a surgeon inquiring about fat transfer augmentation, he started listing off the areas he was going to lipo and explained how he would be injecting in the breasts, then he said something about decreasing the size of my areolas through surgery. I never ONCE asked for it. I asked for fat transfer, I said I wanted to lose some fat in my midsection, round out my breasts and make them 1-2 cup sizes bigger. So it kind of irritated me that he assumed I wanted to change my nipples. The point of me saying all that is... I think because of all the superficial beauty that is out there with the media. Including how our breasts are "suppose" to look, I think there's the same for nipples/areolas, which sucks.

Wow. Your surgeon sounds like a jerk. That would upset me too. I don't know what to say except that what he said was completely unnecessary and wrong. If YOU don't see a problem with your areolas then there ISNT ONE. This is about what you want, not what want men want or what society wants. Sorry for the rant but your story is upsetting. How insensitive of him. He probably just wanted to make an extra buck and/or assumed you wanted fake looking "porn star" boobs. Regardless, im sure your areola are perfect the way they are and will go great with your new breast after the transfer. *Hugs*
