I have been hypothyroid (Hashi's) for the past 12 years. I grew on a combination of maca and mostly phyto-progestins: FG, fennel, WY, and turmeric, with some MSM added. (Previously breastfed btw) When I was growing, I was not on bc, though I had the Mirena inserted about five months ago.
My thyroid hormone levels stayed stable during my growth, which I think contributed greatly to my success. If you're hypo and trying NBE, you have to get your levels stable first. If your T3, T4, and TSH aren't where you feel best, you may gain weight, but not in the breasts. I've learned that I can't strictly adhere to lab values, but adjust my dosage by my symptoms. Fortunately, my endocrinologist agrees with me (a rarity). Personally, I need my TSH REALLY low (down in subclinical hyperthyroid territory) to feel human, and I grew medicated at that dose.
