2 causes could be anemia and more likely is the same as men DHT. Hormonally you could be producing more testosterone due to elevated estrogen activity (as your body tries to keep your natural hormone balance - ratio; as one activity goes up.. So does the other) so higher chance of conversion to DHT.

Since iron helped, your program may have caused you to become anemic. Did you have any other side consistent with being anemic.

What were you taking and how much of each, just curious if you included any androgenic herbs or herbs known to potentiate anemia?
