Maca Journey Buddies!!

#71

I still take Maca (since 2.5 months) but will only continue for the next 2 weeks and then stop, so that will be 3 months in total. I have not noticed much effects from it to be honest. Boobs did not grow from it and my booty did not either. It might have balanced my hormones just a tiny bit (cycle was 31 days the last two months instead of 33, 34 or 35 days) and it might give me a little more energy. But will make a pause after this cycle and take it maybe again in the future.

I take 3000mg of gelatinized Maca and do not have any negative side effects. Started with 500mg and increased my dosage every 2 days by 250mg until I reached 3000mg.

Peggy, I'm sorry you didn't have growth with it :/ Did you take breaks? Did you switch the kind of maca you take? I know they say switching colors or switching from raw to gelatinized (or the other way) when you don't see results is all that's needed. But I've also read that just changing the brand of maca has worked too.

Yeah, I talked to my guy again about this and he said just to try to remember to stand and walk with a very upright posture. Basically stick my butt out as much as I can remember to. And to do that yoga pose I mentioned at least once or twice a day, and that should help enough. I've kind of tucked my butt in/hips forward, while standing, for so long that those muscles have tightened up. My lower back didn't arch in much at all, it looked almost flat. Its getting better now though since I'm stretching the muscles out.  And he said that some dip-in is good, not too much or I'll have back problems.

My trainer said the same thing. At first I told him "No way! Don't make my upper body bigger, just my lower body". Lol. My upper body looks like it gets muscle gain waaaay faster than my lower body. (less fat up top? I dunno). But after he explained what you just said, I was game for lat and shoulder excersizes Smile

Alright, so this week I've been taking a break from maca (and all herbs) to do a mild detox/cleanse. And I can tell you, I can't WAIT to start maca back up again. The last several days, my energy & stamina level and just peppiness has returned to how it was before maca and damn. Lol. I feel like I'm dragging compared to how I felt on maca. I mean, my gosh I was a MORNING PERSON on maca, for crying out loud! Lol. And that is NOT how I normally am. But boy, was I springing out of bed after a good nights rest ready for a hug from my baby and some coffee! The first morning I felt this way, I walked in his room in the morning, smiling and singing, and thought "what the?". Haha.

I'm not horrible or grumpy normally, just really slow to wake up and normally don't get energy until around 11am.

Just started maca today with a tsp in my smoothie. Have felt no effects so far (not even a noticeable increase in energy or libido) but am guessing it takes more time (and maybe higher dosage?).

Is 1 tsp a day good enough for NBE or should I be taking more eventually? I wouldn't mind a bit more width in my hips as well, and I will never complain about a bigger butt. Smile

Good news Ruch. Don't rush into higher dosages no way!
Start low, work up. I honestly felt more energy from the second day after I started Maca. Please don't rush into higher dosages. Everybody tolerates it differently.

I had some raw Maca in the cupboard, I bought last year and never really enjoyed the flavour, but I am determined to use it up! I have built up to the recommended 10g since Wednesday last week. This is the one I have: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/pr...370?c=maca

I did have a sleepless night one of the days and didn't think to attribute it to the Maca. I'll keep an eye on my energy levels compared to before, and I must say I believe it's affecting my butt already Smile

I'll be careful and stick with 1 tsp for now!

Still have not felt anything noticeable from maca (today is day 2 - I took it in some water and damn, that stuff tastes strong like this! I couldn't really taste it in my smoothie the other day), but maybe I have..

How long does the maca stay in your system? I took it just before noon today and didn't notice anything much, but the one thing I noticed (which may or may not be from maca) came at around 5 or 6pm. Could it have been from the maca? 6 hours seems kind of crazy.

Has anyone ever had any experience with maca interacting with anything else, like caffeine? Around 4-5pm, I had some coffee.. and it was around 5 or 6pm that I started noticing that I felt kind of strung out but tired at the same time (the feeling you get when you are tired but may have had too much caffeine). Then I started thinking about it and feeling a bit weird/unsteady, kind of like when you feel a bit low blood sugar. It made me wonder if this was from a combo of coffee + maca? Then again, it could have just been because I may have been dehydrated too. I felt a bit better after a glass of water, but still felt kind of tired+strung out at the same time. Now I am really tired, like crashing when caffeine wears off.
