Maca Root... Progress-ish

#1

So here goes...

I started taking maca root 2 months ago. I absolutely loved it at first... I was very energetic and bubbly which was nice because I'd been very down for quite some time. But eventually I started having stomach pains, headaches and started spotting days before my period. Sad I was really bummed cause I was really starting to notice that my breasts were filling out... I stopped taking maca during my period and continued after a week, but very slowly. I experienced none of the side effects but no growth or fullness either.

So my questions:
1. Why am I getting the side effects and what do they mean about my hormone balance if anything?
2. Is the anything I can take to balance the negative side effects and continue with maca?
3. Should I continue with the lower dose off maca even if I see no results?

That's exactly what I went through the one month I tried it. I wasn't sure if the fullness I got was because of the massages, PC or maca but now since you experienced growth as a side effect; I'm guessing I got the initial growth from Maca. It made me breakout like crazy and made my skin extremely dry so I had to stop. I wasn't using it for breast growth but for butt, did you notice butt growth on the second month?
Not that many people experienced growth from maca so my advise is if you're not experiencing any side effects, keep at it since you like how if makes you feel (made me feel great too) & start adding other herbs for BE.

Did you continue with the maca? If so, did you see any more growth? (In the boobs OR bum?) And did any of the other side effects come back?

I use maca but I use it in baking so like maca cookies, pancakes, muffins etc I bake regularly so almost everyday I get about a teaspoon this way because its good for both me and my bf so I like to use it this way also i use raw maca so this is most convienient gelatinized maca dissolve in drinks so you could use that in protien shakes or whatever I never had side effect using like this.
Do you take it with meals maybe?

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply Smile Well, it's just me and my amazing & beautiful 2 year old son, so if I start cooking with it, it'll just be in my food (or shakes) for now. I've been doing a ton of reading on Maca these past few months and decided to get Whole World Botanicals organic veg Gelatenized maca capsules. It's been sitting on my counter beckoning me for about a month. Lol. I'm biting the bullet and starting it today. I've become pretty convinced I should probably take an anti-androgen along with it. But I am somewhat confused. Apparently (from what I understand) the anti-androgen prevents the maca from boosting my testosterone? Which is good for my NBE, but isn't the testosterone boost the reason it gives you growth in the butt and other muscles? I have no idea. I've been on a weight lifting program with a trainer and a weight gaining (healthy) diet. I'm wanting the glute boost that maca might offer.

You can take Red Reishi. It doesn't alter testosterone or other hormones, but it does prevent that testosterone turns into DHT. I take it along with Maca every day since 3 weeks.

Aaww cute I only cook with mine because its raw maca powder because it was more convenient than capsuals for me because I buy in kg and its healthy for both of us I meant you could just take your capsuals during meals instead like most use herbs on an empty stomach.
I know I don't really have an androgen problem so I didnt always use anti androgens but you can get spearmint in the spice section of supermarket here so I add some for tea sometimes.

But spearmint will lower testosterone and she doesn't want it to go down because of her workout. Reishi won't lower testosterone but will prevent that it turns to DHT.

Oh I read a little wrong thanks peggy but yes i take maca for a long time and still have no androgen/testosterone problems or problem with nbe
And I don't normally use spearmint I just got some because only a euro and everyone was using it.
So I think try maca without anti androgen nbe should still work.

Thanks you guys!! Smile I started with 1/2 the dose the bottle says to take and I'll up it in a week. I'll keep an eye on my side effects & defininatly add in Reishi if it seems like I need an anti androgen. Thank you for that suggestion btw! I wouldn't have known about that!
