Received my hormone results, but don't know what do to next......

#1

Hi

I've received my hormone test results, which, in the covering letter confirmed my progesterone and oestradiol levels are lower than expected at different times during the month; but ovulation did take place. My testosterone level is within the normal range.
I also had my melatonin & DHEA done. My melatonin was normal, however my DHEA was higher than expected.
(I've attached my results tables below).

I would like to ask:

1. What exactly do the results mean? Am I just low in estrogent & progesterone at certain times of the month, but other times I am normal? Or does it mean I am estrogen deficient or estrogen dominant?

2. What do I have to do now? Do I have to do/take something to get my hormones to normal; or do I just take the appropriate herbs for my current hormones to start growing my breasts?

> I am currently taking 3000mg EPO capsules a day, Omega 3 FishOil capsules & multi-vitamins, which I've been taking for approximately 10 months <

Thank you for any help you are able to give me.

That's a very interesting and thorough test (saliva?). Did you have to pay for it or did your insurance cover it?

Your oestradiol looks absolutely normal and I would not take any estrogenic herbs.

Your progesterone could be definitely higher. Why not try vitex?

Thank you for your reply Peggy, it is very much appreciated.

Yes, it was a saliva test. I bought it online, I found it very good as it took 12 samples throughout your cycle.

So, just to confirm, are my hormones 'normal', apart from low progesterone & high DHEA? Is it possible to grow your breasts when low on progesterone & high DHEA or do I need to bring them them to normal?

You say not to take any any estrogenic herbs - why is this? I'm currently taking EPO - do I need to stop?

Is Vitex the same as Agnus Castus? Does the vitex grow my breasts at the same time as bringing my progesterone up?

I really want to try Wonderup and Natureday (obviously not at the same time) - do you think it is okay for me to take with low progesterone? I've read on here that WU didn't work if taking vitex at the same time.

Thank you

Hi
Sorry, I've got a couple more questions I would like to ask:

I've been reading old posts and some people were taking vitex for estrogen dominance. But I am low in progesterone - can you take vitex for both of these hormone imbalances?

I've also read that you should only take it for 6 months at the most (12 months if using it for PMS). So, after 6 months should/would my progesterone level be normal, and would all my hormones be balanced out?

Just thought - I have an underactive thyroid (I'm currently taking medication, which keeps it balanced), but can I take vitex?

Thank you

Yes Smile

Honestly I don't know, but I believe balanced hormones are always better to grow breasts. I have low progesterone too and I have some progress with NBE, but it's quite a slow progress.

No I would not stop. The EPO does not influence your hormones very much, since you wrote you are taking it over 10 months. Do not worry.

Yes its the same. Your breasts might grow from it, I read about some cases here at breastnexus, but not everyone had success with it.

I have no idea, since these products contain many different herbs and everybody can react differently.

It should help to increase progesterone. But it might take some time. I read that it can take 3 months or longer.

How can I know? I took Vitex only for 5 weeks and stopped then, because my acne got worse from it then. So I cannot speak from experience.

Maybe ask your doctor about it if there can be any interactions.
Good luck. Smile

Buy some progesterone cream or spray. wonderup will increase estrogen levels. sounds like your estrogen is fine so I wouldn't try it until you've balances your hormones. nature day has a couple estrogen boosting herbs, along with a hormone balancing/circulation herb and a testosterone boosting herb. if you must take one or the other I would lean towards natureday.good luck.

Thank you Peggy for your replies.Smile

Thank you also NattyTooty for your help & advice.Smile

So, I'll check with the herbal shop (and doctor if poss); if I can take vitex (or another progesterone cream) due to my thyroid, and if I get the green light I'll give it a try; at 100-200mg progesterone per day for about 4-6 months, and hopefully it will be balanced.

However, once I finish taking it will my progesterone stay or will it go back down again? I don't have any 'real noticable' low progesterone symptoms so it will be very hard for me to judge when I feel my level has returned to normal, and I can't afford another hormone test.

What I am confused about however, is, if my estrogen is fine, why cannot I take estrogen herbs until my hormones are level? Am I right in thinking that progesterone keeps the effects of estrogen under control, and because I'm low in progesterone it will boost my estrogen levels up?

Thank you NattyTooty on the NatureDay recommendation, I will give that a go once I'm balanced, I like how it has a hormone balancing herb in it - thank youSmile

Thank you

100-200mg of PC per day??? Hell no, your progesterone would skyrocket!!! You will completely through your hormones out of balance. I have used 7-15mg per day and I already felt the effects on my thyroid (more active). Also with PC you will not raise your OWN hormones like with Vitex or Maca. Of course it will be only temporary, once you stop using PC your progesterone level will go down again. Vitex and Maca will raise your own hormones which is much safer. Maca is also an adaptogen and will balance your hormones. So maybe think about it again.

Thanks for that Peggy. I was researching and it came up with 100-200mg for low symptons, and was 300-400mg for high symptoms. So, thank you so much for informing me.

I will look into Maca and then choose between the two.

I just don't like how when I stop taking my progesterone is going to drop again, I will have to keep taking the vitex (or maca) for the rest of my life (or at least until I have hopefully grown my breasts). But it's adviseable not to take vitex for more than 6 months; and I would need more time than that to grow my breastsHuh

Sorry about all the questions I ask, but I really don't understand all this herbs & hormone stuff, even though I've read literally hundreds of threads, and that's why I like to ask my own simple easy questions as it makes me understand better.Smile

From my last post, are you able to answer this: What I am confused about however, is, if my estrogen is fine, why cannot I take estrogen herbs until my hormones are level? Am I right in thinking that progesterone keeps the effects of estrogen under control, and because I'm low in progesterone it will boost my estrogen levels up?

Thank you very very much
