Weight gain discussion

I sometimes had to practically beat myself to swallow them. My face would twitch, too. It was actually almost painful. I learned a "tapping technique." It was to think of something I liked and check the rythym by tapping my leg. My response was to tap my leg very slowly and sluggishly for the shakes and fast and enthusiastically for my yummies. So, I learned to sit down and tap my leg quickly to drink the shakes. I got so good at those shakes, I was doing 2 per day (to gain) and my butt acually became box shaped- SQUARE! I could almost not get into my pants and my waist was itty bitty. I was like, "Do you see this?!" My husband was like, "Dang! I thought your butt was voluptuous before!" I soon dropped down to one shake because I am quite pear shaped anyway and it went away, thank goodness! This NBE journey is just too interesting, sometimes.

Haha sounds funny.. My way to not make myself gag is to keep swallowing everytime I feel this ''gag tendency''.. So i kind off swallow it away. And I just keep pushing food along with it, sometimes the tears roll out off my eyes from gagging. And people around me are used to it, so I'm gagging with my plate off food and others around me are just eating relaxed like its the most normal thing in the world that someone is making gagging sounds around you..lol.
But yeh this NBE journey is unforgettable..

Gawd Hannah/char I read this and a lightbulb goes off! Its ANY wonder we have gastric issues when we force ourselves to swallow anyway when our bodies are clearly telling us it doesn't want it lol I swallow anyway too then I feel this ball of air/whatever going down at the same time. Il try find an article I found which makes a lot of sense about smoothies not being suitable for all.

Haha! Oh, girls. What we go through for these two fatty mounds of flesh on our chests. I am sure there could be a whole class in psychiatry studies, specifically dedicated to NBE!
Pardon me for this, but I am a visual person. That story about you gagging was like a really bad sitcom scene. I laughed out loud!
Laughing aside, I think that the gagging might give us something to think about. I definitely had gastric issues a few years ago. Stress really got to me. In fact, I ended up having an ulcer a little later. It was mostly due to stress and (what I found out later was related to that stress- adrenal fatigue) and because I changed my diet so drastically when I moved in with my husband. I used to eat rice everyday and as I had a long history of stomach things, I think the rice actually helped (I found out later that rice can help prevent ulcers). Then I was living with the husband and my poor tummy was victimized (even when I was younger, I had sometimes painful stomach issues).
As far as the protein shakes, I would say, as with everything else you consume, we watch the body. Some protein shakes don't bother me as much as the ones I took at that time (having bought ridiculous about of whey protein isolate), though I don't use them anymore.
My friend, who is morbidly obese due to genetics and hormones, started juicing/shaking everyday. She really enjoyed the yummy vegetables/fuits. It was really helping her lose weight and feel good. Then, she fell pregnant and some of her favorite foods became her worst enemies. Hahaha. One of them was tomatoes. When baby was on board, she just thought they were the most vile things; of course she went back to chomping them after baby. I found out my mother also could not handle tomatoes when we were hitching our nine months with her. But She eats them almost every day! Many blessings to the Moms!
Anyway, peanut butter it a great food to have around. I found it can help to prevent munching on terrible snacks too much. Sometimes, I just have a couple spoonfuls and feel so satisfied. I used to keep a jar under my desk and would sneak bites. My coworker was like, "What are you doing? You're crazy." I guess I introduced her to this method of snacking. Big Grin And it is good with oatmeal/fruit and even in some yogurt with fruit smoothies. Oh! Now I want some. Where's my spoon...?

thanks char.
How did you know you had an ulcer? I wonder if I've given myself one Too with the stressing all the time. I started with the peanut butter too in smoothies with flaxseeds and banana and berries. It's the green smoothies that mess me up.
Stress has a lot to answer for I tell ya

How did I know?
There was the excruciating pain, belching that was so painful that I would double over when it happened every few minutes, then not being about to fart, horrid constipation, especially the left side of my body in agony, and my dear Mama is a Master Nurse. When I couldn't get out of bed anymore, she came to save her baby.
When I was younger, I thought I was suffering from either IBS or serious lactose intolerance. I now eat whatever I want because I told my body, "I like that food! You will digest it!" Hehehe. I once had an allergy to something. I ate it three times (the second allergic reaction was kinda bad, but I waved it away and swallowed a Benadry, though I don't take medication, like ever!), while my friend sat vigilant and scared waiting to rush me to the ER, but I told her, "I am gonna eat that cause there is nothing there that should cause me a problem!" Then we waited and nothing happened. I did a happy dance like "Bouya!" and here I am!
Stress can really cause more problems than we realize. I remember in college, getting ready to take a test. The class would be silent with only the sound of pencil and erasers and suddenly my stomach would start growling. I assure you, it could have possibly been heard outside the exam door which was closed. It was so humiliating! And worse, sometimes it sounded like loud farting to me. I would shuffle my papers and move my chair. Ugh! I have learned several relaxation techniques over the years and saved myself some health, dignity, and happiness!

It is entirely possible that you just have a really fast metabolism. I used to have the same problem and became quite underweight. Eating enough to keep up with my needs was hard for me, but I managed to gain weight by adding nutrition shakes (like Ensure, Boost Plus) on top of what I was already eating.

I like avocados, or lots of fruit as it's high in sugar (better in the AM) especially papaya I've heard is good for weight gain. && for your morning bread you could make it into a grilled cheese sandwich with lots of cheese, or a peanut butter & jam, or a peanut butter & banana sandwich (so good!) or honey and cinnamon on toast is amazing. My friend eats her avocado on toast with pepper.
And I like to keep roasted unshelled sunflower seeds in my purse, snack when I'm on the go or at a friend's house, and a bag of cashews in my vehicle to eat while I drive. Hmmm and my protein shakes I had two big tablespoons of plain 3.5% yogurt and also flaxseeds .

&& sometimes I drink my olive oil or camelina oil, or take a tbsp of coconut oil, straight from the bottle before bed . Needs a chase with water but it isn't that bad.

Yes. A high metabolism can be a culprit for several things. I like that post Bambii. I like to keep emergency food on hand too. In my car, in my purse. You would be a good roadtrip buddy, with your Mary Poppins bag of vittles! All that sounds so yummy, even though, hahaha, I lam just having my 1 AM snack! Can't sleep well unless I eat. I have actually been awakened by hunger! Had to head to the kitch for a yogurt in the wee hours cause I went to bed without snacking! Tsk.Tongue If you like and can eat mixed nuts, or even just peanuts or trail mix, nuts are a great handy snack to have. They can help fatten you up and they got lots of protein! I keep a container of roasted peanuts in my car.

Only his reason was for building and repairing muscle loss.
Yeh my weight is shocking I might even be 3 cms taller then 1,70 and today I even weigt 51.6 Its so fluctuating that its making me confused, 2 months ago i was 54, I just reached that point and wanted to celebrate it because that was a big deal for me. But I'm back down under again:p
It might be because I smoke or because I eat my snacks(all off them)in the evening..
I am interested in what you said about that alkalising supplement, I only cnat translate what ''food assimulation'' is? Does it promote digestion?
Some off my problems might be there according to my toilet-bowl studiesBlush

Whats toilet bowl studies??

Sorry was typing on my phone, I meant assimilation, I take digestive enzymes to help break down food and alleviate gas/bloating - goodness only knows if I need them or not but I take them anyway cause of my bad habits, caffeine/wine etc.

Alka vita - ok il find you a link
http://alkavita.co.nz/alka-vita

PS you wouldn't need this at your age unless you get ph strips and consistently get a high acid reading. My ph levels are ok in the mornings but after my morning coffees and white rice bla bla my readings get pretty acidic which isn't good.

Was going to quit coffee this morning but here I am again having my second coffee with full cream milk Sad im definitely quitting wine today tough- quitting as in not having my daily wind down wines anymore *sobs*

I meant with ''toilet-bowl studies'' that after I went to the toilet I sometimes see that things didn't digest that well..Especially raw veggies, And then sometimes I think that I dont gain so well because off a bad digestion.. And maybe all these healthy things I'm trying to eat dont absorb fully.. But these enzymes..does these help digestion or are they only meant for alkalisation?

I drink some booze here and there and I'll just continue doing that, come on we have to have a life here!Tongue And alcohol can be helpful with gaining..

I'm going to buy peanut butter as well, better for me to not eat it with bananas like you because I think it will work laxative on me..
And I will add full cream again to my protein shakes.

And this is so weird: 2 days ago I weigted 51 and today I am 52,5!!Huh
Note: I already went to the toilet for you know what..so its real weight gain to me.. But maybe tomorrow I could be 51,5... Its so fluctuating..
Do you experience weight fluctuations as well?

But your weight is going to the good number.. Is your goal coming into the 60's as well?

Oh and for anybody who's curious about ho much protein we can process I have the correct numbers here: 30 grams which is about 2 scoops off protein powder or a piece off meat per 3-4 hours.
Since yesterday I'm going to keep it up again and not just take 1 protein shake a day but every 3 hours the full 30 grams.

Time out readers if you don't wana be disgusted

Rofl toilet bowel studies ! Now I get it!!
So do you see small chunks of certain food? Based on that I must be digesting my food well... How funny. We are soo gross!

The alka vita keeps your ph alkaline (good) vs acidic (bad).
It too can have a detox effect. Eff knows if it really works. I've yet to take it consistently.
If you aren't digesting well u should look into digestive enzymes. Itl take the pressure off your syTem. I'd elaborate but on my phone so too hard to type
