Oily skin?

#11

You should use Cuaba soap, it really does eliminate oily skin, but it isn´t something that you should use too often, cos it could get your skin too dried up.

I've found that using a neutral bar of soap like Dove seems to keep my skin from getting too dry or too oily. I wouldn't put any moisturizers on your skin if you do have oily skin as you'll only encourage oily skin. Also drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet as "you are what you eat". [/align]

Hey Cheryl,

I would definitely say it's the hormone changes.

My dad has very oily skin (including the scalp, and thus hair). My mom had bacne, which was passed on to me (thanks mom!). Luckily, I was able to do a course of Accutane (since BC pills weren't helping as much, although they did help), which got rid of the cystic acne on my back. It dried me up for awhile, as the drug damages the sebaceous glands in your skin, but that was years ago. I'm back to being oily now, but I'm able to control it with good products and the really bad acne is gone.

OK, blah, sorry, I wrote all that stuff with my point being that vitamin A derived drugs and products work really well for me. Accutane is one. Retin-A micro is another one to help with oily face issues and blackheads. Rose hip oil is high in vitamin A and is a moisturizer I like to use in tiny amounts.

When I'm really oily, I like to use things with tea tree oil. It has a cleansing and drying affect and it really removes the oil without leaving the skin dried out. I get this stuff at my local grocery store Trader Joe's--I think it isn't too hard to find and it's not that expensive: http://www.desertessence.com/skin-care-oily. The thoroughly clean face wash is pretty intense but works well. I like the tea tree oil facial cleansing pads because it has a lightly exfoliating effect.

As for oil control stuff, there are a few things at Sephora you can try. Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel
Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer To Go
Those are just a couple, if you search for "mattifying" or "anti-shine" there are more things. The Smashbox primer works really well when I'm out and about. Smile

Good luck!

The thing about the moisturizer I use is that, it tends to make your skin look oily right after a few hours. I just started using it yesterday, but before that I used Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. It worked pretty good and didn't make your skin look oily, thing is it left a weird feel on my skin. So I would reccommend Aveeno Moisturizer for your oily skin. Basically do these steps, because this is what i'm doing. 3 days a week, Exfoliate. I use a simple exfoliator which is Oats,Honey, and a little bit of water. Mix it into a paste and put that on for about 10 minutes. Wash it off, then do my morning routine. Exfoliate only 3 times. Don't forget that. For night routine, I do the same thing as morning except now i'm thinking about making my night routine my morning routine and changing the moisturizer I use in the morning back to Aveeno because I Don't like having oily skin in the daytime. But yeah hoped this helped coming from a 16 year old kid that just wants normal skin. Good luck to you bro.

I'm glad tea tree oil is helping people out. I love that stuff. I have it as a toner, as a facial cleaner, and pure oil that I put right on blemishes. Smile

Yes! I really like the Aveeno moisturizer! Another one to try is the Neutrogena Age Shield + Repair Sunblock Lotion SPF 55
(http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Shield-...B0039038Q6). It has the same stuff as the Aveeno Ultra Calming--soy and feverfew (to reduce redness)--as well as vitamin E and a much higher SPF. Sometimes I tint it with a little bit of my foundation. I've gotten really good results with my skin not getting oily after several hours outside in the summer humidity.

Good luck ladies.

Tree oil has been really good with getting rid of my oily face but on the days I wear makeup my face still gets really oily. So looking for something that will help control my oily skin with makeup on.

My skin has a tendency to become quite greasy very rapidly. I tried all the specialised products, including Clearasil and even exfoliate, before using Dove soap bar, which greatly improved my skin.I'm not kidding; I just use soap, and since it keeps my skin from being overly oily, I urge you to try it.

Concerns regarding acne: "Oily skin types are more prone to acne due to excess sebum production."

Natural moisturizer: "On the plus side, your skin naturally contains a moisturizer that can help postpone the onset of wrinkles and fine lines.
