--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~SAW PALMETTO~Saw palmetto is now a popular and effective treatment for prostate enlargement in men but has it’s origins in natural medicine as a breast enlarger and is still recommended today by naturopathic physicians for increasing breast size. It is also used as an aphrodesiac, for the treatment of impotence in men, and for inhibited sexual desire in women. Saw palmetto has been used for centuries. Native Americans, dating back to pre-Mayan civilizations, used the berries for food and medicine and particularly for breast disorders in women. Early American botanists noted that animals who were fed with these berries grew sleek and robust, experienced restored sexual vigor and improved muscle tone. Saw palmetto is useful as a nutritive tonic, supporting the function of a healthy appetite and smooth digestion. Saw palmetto berry also tones the urethra, and it may be used to uphold the healthy function of the thyroid gland and urinary system. This remarkable herb has no side effects or drug interactions. It’s breast enhancing effects stem from phyto-nutrients that stimulate breast tissue, increasing health and size. To call saw palmetto a “man’s herb” is a disservice to it’s healthy benefits for both sexes.

Saw Palmetto is also proving to revive mammary glands in recent studies.

hi there.
i ordered some saw palmetto tablets on the internet and now they have arrived i notice that they have a fairly long ingredients list. is this normal or should i invest in some that are pure saw palmetto?

the ingredients are;

Dicalcium Phosphate
Microcrystalline Cellulose
Saw Palmetto
Fatty Acids
Stearic Acid
Silicon Dioxide
Magnesium Stearate

also they are quite high strength (2500mg) will this be alright or is it too large of a dose for starting off?

thank you so much for any help.

Think that is a pretty high dose, maybe you can cut each one into quarters and take one piece 2x daily.

The other ingredients are just what makes them into a tablet rather than putting only the active ingredient inside a capsule shell.

Are you sure the tablets are 2500mg? I ask because that must be quite a big tablet to swallow!

I took Saw Palmetto and believe that is definitely too high of an amount. 500-1500 max should suffice. And if you don't have sign of excess androgens do not take it.

yes they are definitely that strength and they aren't big at all.
anyway thanks for the advice.

Interesting, well then yes I definitely agree with Louise in that you should break them in half.

And is it definitely 2500mg of SP in there or the whole tablet with all the fillers is 2500mg?

The weight 2500 mg does sound kinda a lot. It should be a big capsule. Do you have a digital scale at home? You could just empty and weight one capsule.
As for those other ingredients, most of them are fillers that are used to prevent the herb from binding water and they are used in all capsulated products I think, and their content should be very small.

Hi girls!
Do you take 600 mg extract or berries? I have only found saw palmetto in 160 mg and 340 mg (extract). What brands are you using?

I take 600 mg freeze dried berry in capsules by Eclectic Institute... I have been taking one three times a day, unsure if I am taking a good amount

Usually saw palmetto and fenugreek should be equal or close. I would not recommend going higher than 3000mg per day of fenugreek, 5000mg per day total estrogenic herbs. I have seen saw palmetto usage as high as 7000mg per day but the lady doing it decided it was way too much. So, your dosages are not too high.

Do you know how many mg a tablespoon of fennel is equivalent to?

1/4 tsp = 500mg (approxiately - mg is weight, teaspoon/tablespoon is volume)

1 teaspoon = 2000mg

1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 6000mg

Wahaika!

7000 mg of saw palmetto that was much.. But that must have been berries and not extract? I guess the dosage you sugest are also berries and not extract?

Linn~~~ I take the gel extract caps.I take 2 daily. They are 160 mg,which I saw a post on here that said the conversion would be equivalent to 1200 mg of powdered caps.I got mine from Wal-Mart for about $7 for 100 caps. So,they will last a total of 50 days.I am going to replenish in a couple of weeks.

wahaika

You said that SP and Fg should be equal in dosage or close. I have been taking 610 mg of FG 3x daily, 540 of SP once at night and 2 days ago added 480 fennel 3x daily. I have been only taking the SP once at night to try to ward off weight gain, thinking i'd try it then if no weight gain i'd add one more a day. I began this on May 12and have seen no weight gain( i exercise cardio with toning 3-4 x a week)however no boobie growth either. This is why i decided to add the fennel thinking it might boost the FG. Should i drop the fennel and add another SP? Keep the fennel without adding a SP? Or add a SP and also keep the fennel?

I have been reading about the MSM and think maybe i will try it too. I also think i will start Wild yam. i am also taking Fo-ti for hair growth 3x daily, prenatal vit 1x daily.

what do you suggest?
