Where should you get your hormones tested?

#1

Sorry if this has been asked before or a dumb question.

People buy their's on online sites for saliva testing, but I wanted a guaranteed hormone test. I went to planned parenthood to see if they did it, but the doctor said such thing doesn't exist. Should I go to just a regular doctor and just ask? I looked online and I get nothing.

You can go to a regular Dr and ask to get your testosterone and estrogen  levels tested with a simple blood test.

I have a bad experience with that. The doctor didn't want to take a hormone test because I am a perfectly fine young lady with no symptoms of unbalanced hormones. He really refused it, kept saying no. And I tried to mention I'm planning to take herbs with a lot of phyto estrogens in it and he was so against it. You shouldn't be taking that, so I didn't dare to talk about NBE. Then I called the lab to do a hormone test seperately and they said I need a doctors approval again. And for some reason I was you know what I'll just do it and see if I get side effects. Cause I don't want to go to another doctor to probably hear the same again.

That's what I was thinking. When I went to Planned Parenthood, they really didn't think anything about me either. The doc said since I was 18, I should be normal/balanced considering that I'm not losing or gaining weight too fast or having irregular periods. I wanted to make sure. I feel that a doctor should let their patient do that, why do they have a say of something you would like to do? It's a simple blood test  I think. I understand it has to do with having consideration of your health but it's should be your choice.  This may not be the greatest idea, but trying NBE and see how your body reacts is the only option for some if the doctor refuses to get an accurate hormonal test :/

Yes unfortunately it is. It would be so much safer it they were more open-minded and would listen to us. Instead of immediately waving it off. It's true it's just a bloodtest, it's not that we have to do a dangerous test with lots of health risks or so.

Am not sure if this was the company you may have contacted or even if they have a location in your area?
But was told years ago they would do the testing. Did not personally inquire & do not know if they require a Doctors order?
Good luck, hope you find the info you are looking for.

Sorry to hear you had issues with such a simple request- you're paying for It! My Dr didn't even blink an eye when I asked him.and went right ahead and made it happen.

Ahhh so lucky!!

I wish I could find a doctor like that...Do you think it may be because I (and perhaps others) aren't transitioning and just don't want any implications? Then again, I really wish I could just get them tested...It's as simple as that.

I shouldn't say this but sometimes you have to just lie.... say hormonal problems run in the family. Say your periods are irregular and your suffering from depression... then request estrogen progesterone and testosterone  or whatever else you feel you need testing .

I've heard unfortunately the bloods don't cut it. You need saliva AND you need to get them done on the right time in your cycle. For this it costs a fair bit and you'd have to go through a natural Dr or naturopathic clinic. There are labs you can deal with direct, google and see what you find. Fwiw I'm late 30's and experienced irregular cycles plus earl you menopause runs in my family and they refused to test me too.
