hi pink. i just saw your post. i wish i had more to say about it but this collagen thing is of such interest to a lot of people mostly because, i think, as people age, the skin, and it’s just my sense of it, which is responsible for creating this rich subcutaneous matrix that seems to s;pw;u. oops, slowly slowly falter as we get older older, so, you see melanin irregularities in the form of age spots or vitiligo, loss of elasticity, cross hatching of elastin fibers due to potent sugars in the diet and uv exposure, crepey skin, irregular skintone, loss of collagen, etc. ……….anyway, it just seems to me that it’s all a consequence of this largest organ of the body, our skin, like a canary in a coal mine, soooooooo, anything to benefit skin is going to benefit everything associated with this largest of organs which includes the collagen matrix. sorry, i had some coffee …it makes me non-stop ramble and a kind of crazy typist. me, i like practically any retinol derivatives for topical use and also, creams with dmae. internally, besides a good diet to promote healthy collagen, i love to make bone broth, so good and i’ve been reading a bit about pycnogenol, to take orally …from a french pine bark …supposedly very good for skin.
it’s truly a fascinating topic because, for some odd reason, the whole collagen matrix seems to break down in our fellow peeps as they climb in age …as if there’s some tipping point or something ….and, i’d really love to know why. anyway, one of the things i have to constantly remind myself is to drink enough water …the hyaluronic acid in our skin needs water to bind it up so i’ve read ..i don’t drink much coffee or tea ..the caffeine affects me too much, like now …and my adrenals ..can’t be really good ..and, of course, any topical products with hyaluronic acid or just the hyaluronic acid by itself ..of which i’ve bought plenty. sorry, i’m at work and have to type fast. i will add again if i think of something worthwhile. oh, i just remembered, this is beside the point but, an oil i really like to massage with when i alternate with my regular mixture is dr singha’s mustard rub ..i really love that stuff ..contains essential oils of Mustard Seed, Marjoram, Lavender, Rosemary, Sandalwood and Thyme in a base of cold-pressed Certified Organic Mustard Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Certified Organic Sunflower Oil. and you can add a little to your bath, as well.

ps. i thought this was of interest, too, regarding vitC : Eat foods that contain amino acids lysine and proline, found in lean meats, fish, egg whites and wheat germ. And take Vitamin C each day because vitamin C is what is required to transform these to hydroxylysine and hydroxypoline which is the form of amino acids necessary to rebuild collagen.
