It doesn't say in this forum exactly what the Brava system is.

It is a suction device that is said to grow your own breast tissue without surgery. Brava apparently increases and reshapes your own breast tissue through a process known as tissue expansion, by applying sustained suction on your breasts, which causes cells to replicate and produce new breast tissue. I don't think it's proven that this is how it works, but thats' the theory of it.

It's two huge domes that you strap to the boobs and they apply suction to your boobs, sucking and stretching them until they stay permanently bigger. My impression is that the success rate of this is not terribly high.

Brava basically uses suction on your breasts 10 hrs a day for 10 weeks to cause actual enlargement. If you stop before the 10 weeks all or most of the growth is lost. I lasted a couple weeks, and saw real enlargement, but it was way too hard to continue, and therefore the enlargement was lost.

It fits over your breasts and sucks them, basically. It's not unique. There is a similar system called Bosom Beauty which does the same thing.

I have been using the Brava system for 14 weeks and I can honestly say I have increased from a very loose 34B to a full 34B. I have to be straight with you, it's not for the faint hearted. You have to be committed to the programme and it takes a lot of commitment. I have heard os some women giving up because they can't manage it. I required at least 11 hours wear every day for 14 weeks. I had to change my whole social life but I was determined to do something about my breasts. See what I mean about the commitment? I wore the domes (they go over each breast) inside a specially fitted vest throughout the night. You have to lie on your back and for me that required discipline. The domes are connected to a small pump which is located in a pouch in the vest. The pump sucks the air out of the domes. I found that the pump went off 2 or 3 times a night and as it's close to your chest it was a problem at first because it does sound a bit loud, but I got used to it. The pump does this because it has to maintain a gentle sucking on your breasts, but it's not painful. When you wake up in the morning your breasts will have swelled. The swelling goes down over the day but you repeat the procedure the following night, and so on. Don't be tempted to miss a day, that could ruin everything. On average you should put in 77 hours a week. I've been doing 85-90 hours.

When HonBee was here she looked at lot into Brava and she reckoned about 30% of users had success.

So many women give up on it though, as they find they can't commit to it, so it would be pretty hard to ever calculate the true success rate.

I think that if Brava is used exactly as instructed the number of women who get results with it would be more than 30%.

I agree that it is more thatn 30%. Most of the people on this website have said that they are finding an increase that is staying. That must count for something. I do agree that a lot of people give up or don't wear it as often as they should and on the other hand others wear it longer.

For me brava is working. It's early days but I'm making good progress.

Hi Kiran,

Sorry for not responding to this sooner. BB is Bosom Beauty (AKA Brava Breast / Better than Brava). It's a machine that you attach using a tube like the Brava airlock to two stiff (cheaper made) plastic domes. The machine then sucks very powerfully, quite possibly turning your boobs purple! The idea is that you do this 45-60 mins 1-2x daily for 8 weeks then take a 2 week break and then have another cycle. I've been using for 30 mins daily for 2 weeks before each Brava session and it hurts! I am starting to get a bit of swelling and there are several people who have reported growth with this machine - all using longer than 8 weeks. I had one day off yesterday as the day before it made my boobs look really weird - purple with fatty blotches and I worried I'd hurt myself, but seems ok now. If you're UK based you can get it from www.gismostore.com for about £180. I am unsure as to whether this machine is very effective - on the one hand people have reported growth, the machine sucks hard and you do get swelling, on the other hand more people would use Brava if you only had to use for such short hours and we have had spam from sellers of this product pretending to be satisfied users. Unlike Brava the actual main machine is very sturdily built and should be easy to sell on if you buy it second hand, the cups will also be easier to clean as there is no silicone padding (although this makes them hurt more!). I bought mine for £100 and will probably sell for similar when I'm done.

Hi, I was a "Brava Woman". Or at least thought I was. I bought this Brava system a couple of years back. When I first bought it, I used it profusely, but it is very difficult to use. 10 hours a day min. for 10-12 weeks. I spent over $1000.00 on it, and am no larger than I was prior to it. (but I have to honestly say, that I was never able to keep up wearing it on a nightly basis for the whole term, came pretty close a few times).

You have to sleep on your back with it on. Also, I have to get up at 5:00 am to get ready for work, there for I had to put it on by 7:00pm in night before in order to get my full 10 hours in. Which is a little difficult seeing as how sometimes maybe a neighbor would drop by or something, this thing is "huge". I am tall and slender and end up looking like Dolly Pardon with it on. It also makes a humming sound when the motor kicks in. When I first starting seeing my current boyfriend I was still trying to use this Brava. One night talking to him on the phone after a while he asked what that buzzing sound was, I was like, "I don't hear anything, maybe it's your phone". After that I would sit with a pillow on my lap while talking to him so I could hurry up and slap it over my chest to muffle the sound.

Other drawback, my back was hurting so much from wearing this, since I don't get to sleep 10 hours a day, (wouldn't that be nice), have to make sure you don't really work too hard around the house because you really can't sweat with it on or you'll lose suction in it.

I was obsessed with the fact that I had spent so much money on it, that I HAD to make it work, in the end I was reading a bunch of reviews on this brava, had found one, which I'm sorry I can't remember what it was called, but one woman had worn it for a year straight, and all her swelling went down after she stopped using it. I ended up thinking that 1000.00 wasn't worth ruining more of my life. So, bought a 6 month supply of herbal pills and some cream, seems to be working so far.

Wish I had found this forum a couple of months ago, I had never heard of the Flat 2 Fab program until a couple of weeks ago either. I'll finish out my pills and then look into doing this herb thing, I've read a lot of good results from it.

I'm sorry I've drug this on forever, but I hate to see you go out and spend a lot of money like I did. If I can find those reviews I mentioned earlier I'll let you know the website. (it was not affiliated with Brava)

Better than breast implants?

I was wondering the same thing. If you want an appreciable increase in sise surely implants must be a better solution? Since the size gain from using brava is said to be limited.

Fiona
(no login) Re: Better than breast implants? May 7 2006, 9:49 AM

It depends on what you're aiming for. Most women that use Brava have settled in their minds for a modest increase in breast size, because that's all that Brava encourage you to expect. The other thing is that if you want a modest increase only you would not want to go through the whole process of surgery. But then Brava is a hassle and requires a lot of commitment, so I can see why you are asking the question.

I think there is some confusion here. There is a difference between a brava type breast pump and a breast pump that helps with breastfeeding. two different things entirely.

Is Brava a breast pump at all? I thought the way it worked was distinctly different to a breast pump. Anyone who knows one way or the other please advise.

Brava is not unique. There is a similar system called Bosom Beauty which works in the same way. The only problem is that it has hard plastic domes and any little movement you make causes them to lose suction, so you have to sit still when you're using it so you don't break the seal.

I know someone who's using Bosom Beauty. Yes it's the same as Brava except that instead of the steady suction with Brava it gives you suction and then releases it and then increases again. They claim that this release and increase in suction gives you faster results, so you only have to use it something like an hour and a half to two hours a day.

Is Bosom Beauty the same as Bosom Buddy. I've heard these two names. Are they the same thing?

Melanie

I believe "Bosom Beauty" is correct, but this is not something that has the kind of testing that Brava has done. I thing it's wrong of people to see it as an alternative to Brava, because it really isn't. Remember how long Brava has been around and how many women it was tested on and how many have used it. The Bosom Beauty is not in the same league as that.

I currently have Bosom Beauty which I purchased at gismostore. I created my own airlock system. Because I am so small 30 inches I purchased small & medium domes. I am very happy with the system. I use two hours a day. I have also purchased Noogleberry but I only ordered medium domes. I hope to use this system as well within the next month. I plan to use both systems one per hour.

Noogleberry has nothing to add to BB, BB is much stronger and the dome shape is a better design. If I were you I'd sell the Noogleberry on ebay and save the money in case you need to get a new set of BB domes.

Brava is NOT FDA approved! Dont kid yourself!
July 30 2007 at 8:15 AM Lost Sheep (no login)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I read on a few different websites now that Brava claims it's FDA approved...HOWEVER...it is only approved as an unregulated device. Meaning, it could be extremely unsafe or it could be fine for women...but...the FDA has not approved it as being a safe device. Just thought everyone should know.

"Q: Is the product FDA approved?

A: No. According to the Berkeley Wellness Letter, "the FDA has not reviewed it for effectiveness, but allowed it on the market as an unregulated device."

So for those of you who won't go ahead and try the 'better than brava' machine, now you can see there is no reason to hold yourself back. I've read so many women saying "Well, is the better than brava machine FDA approved?" Answer is no. But neither is Brava.

Brava have been making this claim for a long time. The fact is that the FDA decided that this kind of device isn't something that requires FDA approval as it doesn't fall within any of their regulations.

Lost Sheep
(no login) Re: Brava is NOT FDA approved! Dont kid yourself! July 30 2007, 6:51 PM

Okay, well in that case, the 'better than brava' machine falls under the exact same category and also doesnt need to be regulated. Good news!

I paid $1200 for the system from Brava, but you can sometimes get refurbished ones from Brava on e-bay for less and some people have had good luck with used systems on e-bay. I had never even thought of checking for them on e-bay until after I had bought my from Brava directly.

i got the brava sport directly from brava for 795 usd. talk to the company ask to get the information packet and dvd. email them asking to see he they have any promotional savings. i managed to rate hundred dollars and free shipping. talk to them first. that way you get their warranties and can re order domes. just my opinion. good luck.

I second Diana's opinion on buying directly from Brava. Used domes could cause skin problems and would just make the already hard journey even harder. Buying directly from Brava could also give you the option of re-orderring new domes from them, which i think is very necessary, if you plan to give Brava a few months, you most likely will need another set of domes some where down the road.

ScottishGal

I got mine 2nd hand off Ebay for £300 which was a great price for everything i got. Although people say theres risks with using 2nd hand domes, ive been using brava since 1st January and ive had no problems or anything so far....only had a rash one day but think it was because i forgot to use the skin barrier.

Hope you find something! x

If you're lucky you can get brava stuff hardly used. So many women can't commit to wearing the dratted thing and sell it when it really hasn't been used very much. Then again you might end up being unlucky....

I still don't get why Brava supposedly grows new tissue.

Why didn't I grow new tissue during three pregnancies at nine months of skin stretching? I mean, I have saggy skin on my abdomen but there isn't any new fat under there.

I have tried researching "tissue expansion" but have never come up with any other clinical studies about this concept.

The difference there is that you have a foreign object filling the space (like internal expanders used before breast augmentation), so once it's removed, you're left only with the new skin. However, with external expanders, new tissue proliferates to fill the void that is being created.

I was using the domes with the NB pump, but I have this terribly irritating problem. My breasts are very stretchy. This means that I can completely fill the NXL domes within a few mins even though I am just barely a B. *Sigh* So I've switched back to NB now that they have XL cups. I did, however, manage a *tiny* bit of perm growth in the 2.5 months that I used Brava. I'm sure it would have been much more, but my breasts were not actually under tension for most of that time. Remember that it's the tension that causes the growth, not the swelling we have in the meantime. That's just a temp benefit that reminds us of why we're putting ourselves through all of this.

I was mentioning that to the Brava coach on the phone the other night and said I had breast fed three kids and had huge boobs then. She said that when you lose weight the fat cells NEVER go away, they just shrink down. So she said anyone who has been pregnant/breast fed will typically do better on Brava since they have fat cells in the breasts that will expand again with tension. These fat cells are there and will help you grow faster. Let's hope!!!

I think you're right about the fat cells multiplying with Brava and being there, but shrinking. I unfortunately gained 10 lbs. over the holidays that I should probably try starting to get rid of but noticed something new that never happened before. I have gained 10 lbs. in the past and all of it went to my hips. This time, some of it actually went to my breasts. I did 2 cycles of Brava last year and the year before and probably gained about 1/2 cup size - not real noticeable but filled the void left from pregnancy and breastfeeding. With this weight gain, I just added about another 1/2 cup size - maybe more. I think those "new" fat cells actually grew since I've did Brava in the past. They will probably shrink back down if I lose the weight, but it was encouraging to actually gain weight in my breasts instead of just my thighs as I've always done before.
