Ideal pump user

#1

Doe anyone know what's the best profile for pumping? I've heard it said that younger is better in terms of response to pumping, but I've also heard that it works better on older women, especially if they have been through pregnancy.

In my opinion the ideal candidate is young but has already breastfed in the past, is already naturally busty (meaning that their breasts are already a lot bigger than you’d expect for their body weight, and they tend to gain weight mainly in the breasts rather than in the hips or stomach), their weight is at the upper end of the healthy weight range for their height (or maybe even above it), and they’re not trying to lose weight or prone to losing weight by accident.

That means that the “worst” candidate is an older woman who is underweight, is an A cup or smaller, follows a very restrictive diet and/or exercises heavily, tends to gain weight in the hips or stomach rather than the breasts, and has never been pregnant. That doesn’t meant that no one who fits in this category has ever been successful at NBE.

Actually this applies to every form of NBE IMHO, but there’s not a whole lot anyone can do with this information. Obviously I don’t think people should get pregnant and/or become overweight on purpose just to make NBE easier. Instead I’d say most people trying to grow their breasts should aim to be at the middle to high end of the healthy weight range for their height, and if they’re taking herbs, they should probably consider including a galactagogue (a galactagogue is an herb that’s typically used to increase milk production) like shatavari in their program.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that people who choose to lose weight while doing NBE are stupid or wasting their time. I’ve been trying to lose weight and gain muscle while also pumping for NBE myself, but I understand and accept that dieting is going to make NBE even harder for me than it already is. I just want to point out that I’m a pear shaped woman in my late 30’s, and at one point I was a US size 12 in pants (technically plus size) and was still an A cup at that time. I am the polar opposite of naturally busty. The only way I could possibly be a worse candidate is if I was leaner, and I’m actively trying to become leaner anyway.

Yes I agree with that. Pumping is not different in this respect from any other method of NBE. I think if you're a good candidate for NBE in general you're a good candidate for pumping.
