Progesterone based cream with BO?

#1

Hi girls. I will be getting my BO in a few weeks and I just ordered a doctors appointment to check my hormones. I am still sure I am progesterone deficient and I know I have very underdeveloped glandulars but I want a "proof" of it before I start.

I was wondering if anyone has tried using a wild yam cream or some progesterone based cream on the breasts while using BO? I have read that PC has helped women with underdeveloped glands breast feeding and if I could breastfeed in the future, it would be so great!! I also read you should only use PC cream on your breasts maybe every 3 or 4 times so it absorbs better, other days use it on other areas. I however don't want to overload my body with hormones but people use PM supplements and PM cream together so why not with BO?

Any input would be very appreciated =)

My experience with BO according to hormone test while I did it, was that my progesterone levels raised. I had thought at one point that I needed to add pc cream to it and since I already had some, from pre NBE, I did, but within a few days noticed major mood swings so stopped the cream. A month or so after that incident I had a test that showed my estrogen was a little low, but my progesterone was in normal levels, so the BO must support progesterone production just like the companies say it does.

My understanding on why the women on PM also use pc is that it raises estrogen so the pc is to prevent dominance.

So I would say if your hormone results come back low then use pc to balance them out for awhile before starting bo, but not to automatically plan your program to include it unless you begin to see signs that you need to.

PC is a very strong and reliable way to adjust hormones, but caution does need to be used when using it. It's not a gradual increase in your hormones, it absorbs quickly giving a womans body as much of a hormone boost as any HRT drug that a doctor could prescribe for progesterone. So it is also easy to over do it also without even realizing it's happening until you get smacked with symptoms.

Before starting it, I really suggest any woman to get a copy of Dr. Lee's book, "What your doctor may not tell you about premenopause." It's a very handy book to have if you are wanting to use pc, so that if you have any problems or questions, you have a ready help source.

Thanks Mel =) very interesting.

How strange that your estrogen lowered because from what I have read is that first when you start taking PC (I would think BO too) is that you will feel estrogen dominent because it activates the dormant estrogen recepters so it should in the long run increase both estogen and progesterone, but progesterone more. I was thinking this could be the reason for the side effects some girls feel when they first start on BO, estrogen dominance. Maybe BO works different than PC somehow in that matter, I don't know, and I clearly don't know which one would be better for ME since it all depends on the person.

I actually used PC once before but did not grow, I however never used it directly on my breasts but I have read about people doing that to grow.

So thanks for the advise, I will try the PC cream BEFORE I start BO but after I get my results =) Not both at the same time.

Well I already had my estrogens fluctuating slightly before I started it, so I wouldn't say bo lowered them, BUT it didn't raise it was my point. My progesterones which I had to use pc for before I used nbe for a couple of years, stayed normal while on bo without using my pc. I began to think that bo is a great product to use, if you have high estrogen and want to switch gears from one of the estrogen increasing nbe options to something to help lower your estrogen levels back to normal. But that was just my thinking on it. I chose BO in the first place because all of my research said that it promoted progesterone health and would not raise estrogen. At the time, I was concerned about raising mine too much due to my family history of cancers. I really liked Bo and felt fantastic on it for the year I took it. I decided to take a break from it during the summer and from all nbe since the kids were home and just never got to start back since I began having some health problems. Anyway, a year later and I'm starting nbe again, but switching gears and moving over to pm to bring up my estrogen this time, but I'm still a huge fan of bo.

CousinRose,
When Ginie was using BO, she added PC in the luteal phase, but she said that it stalled growth. When she used PC alone, she got growth.
So I think either you can use PC before BO or after BO, but not with BO.
BO is progesterone based so I think adding even more progesterone is not a good idea.
But don't quote me on that, lol!Big Grin

I love you guys Wink Wink

This was SOOOO helpful. Mel I have the same problem, I want to raise my progesterone WITHOUT raising estrogen too much because I have breast cancer in my family too (my mother) so I really don't want to mess too much with estrogen unless I have a problem with it (hence my interest in the suction method). BO sounds like a really good thing, and I can't wait to start =)

Melissa - thank you so much for telling me this. I will definitly stop flirting with this idea even though it sounded really good in theory Wink
