I linked three pages of a book here
http://www.breastnexus.com/showthread.php?tid=8419&pid=31217#pid31217
Those pages explain insulin sensitivity from all angles in a short text. It may not be clear at first, because a lot is in medical jargon, but if you read it a few times over, the essentials sink in.

Ahh well, I can explain it shorter. Fat in the belly is a vicious circle. It decreases sensitivity to insulin. Insulin is the hormone the pancreas makes to make energy from blood sugar. If sugar does not become energy, it becomes fat, in the belly.

Fenugreek stimulates the pancreas to make more insulin, and fenugreek increases sensitivity to insulin too, so it cuts the circle in two places. This makes it the most effective waist slimmer.

Goat's rue increases insulin sensitivity too, but it does not stimulate the pancreas to make more insulin. Insulin binds to Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG). SHBG releases free testosterone to make room for the insulin. So fenugreek may cause break outs in people who do not take enough anti-androgens. Goat's rue won't.

Fenugreek and fennel increase prolactin. Prolactin makes milk, so it causes swelling. Fenugreek contains diosgenin, which increases progesterone. Turmeric and fennel contain phyto-progestins. Progesterone and progestins round the breasts out, by developing the glands and alveolas. So with this bomb of swelling and roundness, you're surprised it hurts? Big Grin

Ok let me get this straight.. Fenugreek helps with the belly looking like I am prego.. I am pretty much thin but look prego.. but you have said that Fenugreek can give carb and vinegar craving which to me is an oxymoronTongue I dont mind the vinegar craving.. anyway that link made alot of sense in other areas to me.. my main problem is chin hair and acne.. didnt know licorice helped in that area for the anti androgens..I think my teas help alot with this cause after I drink them I feel better my skin looks better.. Isabelle I am thinking of stopping PM and using herbs like you and Eve cause they have been around longer and PM seems like it isnt really dont anything.. I am thinking back when I was taking Fenugreek before my PM arrived and I was getting more action and as I sit here I am feeling more.. remember when I felt action taking PM well I was taking FG or other herbs with it..anytime I take PM alone it doesnt do much at all except for the skin, hair but I can take other things for that (any tips for that).. my main thing is I dont want break outs anymore and chin hairs along with getting bigger titas.. oh I think I gain some weight too..ok done ramblingBig Grin

Yes Susan,

Fenugreek will help you get rid of the four weeks waist. I went from a Waist Hip Ratio of 0.95 to 0.92 in four weeks of taking fenugreek. Because fenugreek will give you a shot of insulin, it decreases blood sugar fast. That is why you get the sugar craving. I thought goat's rue wouldn't do that, but the day before yesterday, after a lot (10 g) of goat's rue, I got a sugar craving too.

Yes, licorice root contains anti-androgens too. And phyto-estrogens and phyto-progestins, and it increases prolactin. It's a program all by itself.

PM increases dopamine, which decreases prolactin. You never get swelling, so you don't feel any action. Fenugreek increases prolactin, so you feel the swelling. Give me oldskool herbs any time Big Grin

You need to get a lot right for good hair. The hair skin nails multis contain high doses of B vitamins, my "super hair formula" even contains 1000s of %s of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). I wonder if that's really healthy.

The thing that's usually missing for good hair is silicic acid. It's in horse tail, apple cores, oats, and millet (some supermarkets still have a millet porridge desert here, with raisins). Because silicic acid is in no other foods, many people lack it.

For clear skin, here is my list of anti-androgens again:
hops cones
spearmint tea (peppermint is more estrogenic)
saw palmetto berry
stinging nettle root
pumpkin seed oil
borage seed oil
Zinc < 80 mg
vitamin B6
azelaic acid (in rye, barley grass, whole grain cereals)
Secoisolariciresinol diglycoside (SDG), the main lignan in flax (linseed)
β-Sitosterol (the anti-androgen in PM)
Java tea (orthosiphon extract)
pygeum bark
wild yam (because it contains β-sitosterol)
On the male forum, SP got a bad rep lately, and some are experimenting with pygeum bark. On the acne forum, some people write some anti-androgens are better for hair loss, others for acne.

Gaining weight is normal on phyto-estrogens. Progesterone makes you lose it.

After maca, four short walks, fenugreek, and goat's rue, Body Mass Index (BMI) and the difference between bust and underbust are back to normal. But I kept the Waist Hip Ratio (WHR) of 0.88 from the Frankfurter sausages. And I have officially a 40" butt now. Because this is the time of the day I normally measure, I deleted the above measurement from my files. And I'll have another tin of Frankfurters Big Grin

Heiht: 178.5 cm = 5 * 30.48 + 10 * 2.54 = 5' 10"
Weight: 82.0 kg * 2.2046 lbs/kg = 181 lbs
Body Mass Index (BMI): 82.0/1.785/1.785 = 25.7
Breast: 110 cm = 43"
Under: 97 cm = 38"
Waist: 89 cm = 35"
Hip: 101 cm = 40" (actually the widest part around my butt)
Waist to hip ratio (WHR): 89/101 = 0.88

Wow thanks again girl.. nice layout.. yes SP I really dont want to take cause of the cellulite effect which I think it gives me..I didnt know wild yam is an anti androgen.. yes today I was planning on drinking some fennel with spearmint tea.. as for licorice I dont want to take too much and I think that is why I woke up swollen throught the body..I did take a maca a few mins. ago to see if I get some energy.. I was wondering since FG makes me a little tired unless I just need to get use to it or by mixing it with licorice would help but ready what you wrote it maybe the low spike of insulin that makes someone tired..so my question is or this is what I was thinking of taking 1 maca a day in the morning, fennel and spearmint teas during the day and FG at night or spead out the FG.. I want to look at Eve M program again..as for the oats I have been eating oatmeal everymorning with wild blueberries, black strap molasses, banana, just started adding 2 teaspoons of greek yogurt, and just a little honey..today for lunch I plan on making mashed avacado, salsa, wrapped in seaweed..I am trying to take my multis but just cant handle them still but my amino acid liq has a bunch of vits. this is what is in it:

Forgot to add that I am thinking to add tumeric too my list of herbs..what is your thought on this..

Oh Susan,

Those are all the B vitamins. You don't need to take a multi on top of that.

You can add the proline and the glutamic acid to the L-arginine: You are getting not much less than idreamofD and MydreamisGcup.

10 mcg is 0.010 mg.

Hi Susan,

I had to look up turmeric. I use it to color rice, and it's in curry chicken. But I have no NBE experience with it. As a phyto-estrogen, it's as strong as hops. But as a phyto-progestin, it's twice as strong as fennel, and even stronger than licorice:

So be careful with the doses Big Grin

Susan,

This wikipedia page lists all B vitamins:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B

So what's in your B and aminoacid complex is really very complete.
