prolactin and ub

#1

so i have pcos and i believe i have slightly less developed breasts one more so than the other ive been thinking about using a breast pump and UB. the thing is im lactating not a whole lot im not breastfeeding but for some reason after having all my kids i never stop making small quatities of breast milk like years later i will still have less than an ounce of milk. so im curious of the affect of the hormones would have if i have a slightly higher prolactin level than average if they would conflict or if it would be bennifical thanks in advance

I caught this post and I wish I knew the for sure answer to your questions,
but here is my hunch:

I do know it is common in women with pco's to have much higher prolactin levels than estrogen and progesterone levels (the fat they store in the breasts) besides the fact you were a nursing mom.

You should get a hormone panel done to see how far off your estrogen and progesterone maybe compared to your androgen levels (these maybe free flowing in higher amounts: dhea, testosterone, estroidal conversion).

in other words, based on the info you posted, it sounds like you may have higher Lutenizing Hormone than Follicular Stimulating hormone.
Since its up to speculation on how exactly bovine ovarian glandulars affect the female system (other than knowing it stimulates the pituitary), its hard to be definite on whether or not it will be more beneficial to you versus the herbal route.

I think pumping promotes both cellular expansion and healthy prolactin levels, but since your prolactin levels seem to be higher than the other hormones, if you pump now, you maybe more likely to produce more milk eventhough it does not touch the nipple. Some have produced milk and even this is up in the air as it could have just been the combo of both BO/pumping since speculation is that it raises LH by pituitary stimulation (which in your case, you need the opposite effect).

I learned by my own experimentation of using mammary supplements for 4 months with phyto progestins and estrogens w/ daily pumping, I could not store fatty tissue in the breasts until I stopped them (and lowered my prolactin levels). It took a good couple of months.

I would suggest you take herbs to dry up the milk first so you can make room for fatty tissue storage.

If you have pco's you're most likely going to have to adress this issue(s) such as underlying glandular problems, blood sugar, diet, etc. first before anything that has to do with nbe or you are more likely to make things worse ( I am speaking from experience).

We are different than the average gal with a healthy functioning glandular system, so we have to work much harder and expect slower results because of it as it is a whole body system issue, but we can definitely get there, so never give up.

Good Luck, and research as much as you can...Wink

thank you for your responce i had a full hormonal work up by an endrocronoligist a cpl years back my dhea levels were high but the others were low i know awhile back i had estrogen dominance because i was developing fibrosystic breasts my pcos isint caused by insulin resistance i believe it was caused by low vitamin d. even when i did breast feed i had to supplement and one breast never produced near as much milk even now it dosent have as much come out of it in comparison showers ext. i can tell by the feel of it it is less developed its smaller and less full feeling especialy closer to the nipple. most of my pcos symptoms have mellowed out i no longer need anything to regulate my cycles since loosing the weight and taking a vitamin d supplement. my poor breasts r deflated and the skin is riddled with stretch marks. i was a 32 a before kids and after having 3 and gaining alot of weight one was a small 38 d the other a c and when i dried up well for the most part and loosing most of the weight im in the 34 b c range depending on the style of bra but because of the weight loss and breastfeeding the poor things just arent the same its very depressing. im also more of a pear than an hourglass so i dont feel proportanate. i guess i was kinda hoping that the BO would give my body the chance it never really had to develop and my slight prolactin levels would just cause me to develop more milk glands in the smaller breast. my fear tho is that it might behave oddly with me and just make matters worse. on i side note as odd as it sounds producing small amounts of milk dosent bother me probably because i had to struggle so hard through breastfeeding that its a reminder of all the work i did for my kids. so if i were to produce more milk but at the same time develop more tissue or deposit more fat id still be happy. i also relize that the cup size i mention sound big but in comparison to the rest of me they never were. at this point id be happy just to fill them back out and have them match closer in size to one another. well hopefully that helps fill in the gaps as far as my hormones n such

Wow, you've been through alot.

That whole thing about one being bigger than the other is annoying! I know how you feel to a small extent. I am sorry you have to deal with that. I would def say an NBE journey is a must but "What?" right?

Maybe its time for a new test before deciding what's best for you at the moment. I think it will help choose what route you need to go.

If you aren't taking inosistol ( I know I spelt this wrong) and choline, and NAC, you might want to look into it. It's great for Pco's and slims the waist.

Again, Good luck in what you choose. Never give up.
