Haha... yeah... unfortunately

Obviously it works for many, since that is all I have seen on this site. I posted this for those who, like me, the around the bust and over the bust chest measurements just don't work since there is a lot of variables in placement (for above the bust I may place it too high or too low in either the front or the back, dramatically changing the results, and the over the bust measurement varies for me because the space between the breast is included and that varies depending on how secure the measurement tape is). It may even just have to do with experience (or, lack of experience in my case!), which is why the more precise measurement that I just found is all that has worked for me. I found it to be the easiest to use, and the most precise, and thought it would help those who were in my same situation.
Yeah... I guess I can sort of understand this, it took me quite a while to be able to do my measuring reliably... I guess I can understand some people just never getting it at all.

I measure at 30" under my bust and I wear the 34" band. You are measuring UNDER your chest, where your bra band would be, right? Would you mind if I asked what is your above the bust measurement? Also, by chance, do you fasten your bra hooks on the inner-most eye of the strap? What method of measurement, if any, do you find to have worked the best for you?
Yep, I am very definitely measuring where I wear my band! I'm actually wearing El Cheapo Wal-Mart bras atm, and therefore find I have to fasten them on the middle hook. As they wear out (entirely too quickly!) I eventually have to fasten them on the inner-most before eventually they are just too worn out to keep wearing. When I had opportunity to try on slightly more expensive bras I could wear them on the outermost hook.
Unfortunately, I am still looking for a reliable way to determine my bra size without resorting to just trying bras on at mostly random!
Anyways, my full measurements as of the last time I took them:
Code:
Current Sizes:
37" above bust
37.5" over bust
32" under bust
29" waist
31" hip "wings"
36.5" hips

I get a long way in my researching until someone shows me how much learning I still have yet to do! I know that bra measurements are a little complex, and that not every method works for everyone, but since band width is not affected by bust size, I thought it was pretty straight forward. I have never thought it was possible for someone to wear a band width that is the same measurement as their under bust measurement.
And of course, since your under the bust measurement and band measurement does not agree with this method, of course the chart will not work for you in determining cup size, since cup size is affected by the band measurement and under the bust measurement so that goes without saying!
Hehe... It does kinda figure! I'm not the only girl on these boards btw who has found her under-bust to be her band size... And as far as I'm aware, for those of us who find this to be true, there has not yet proven to be a reliable way to determine bra size.
Personally, I have a sneaking suspicion that when my bust measurement gets to be 6" more than my underbust I'll be a full A. In other words, 32" under and 38" across. I don't know how that will stack up with increasing cup sizes, but I do think it'll likely be less per cup after I reach that first full cup.
Every single calculator I find that gets the band size right wants to put me in a cup size that's waaaaay too big!
I think my problem is my extremely broad shoulders. The other girls with this same problem also have extremely broad shoulders. I was kinda hoping since this system avoids the whole shoulder thing entirely it'd be better... And anyways. It is reporting basically the same thing as the other calculators that say to add 4/5. So the problem is not in my measuring under either method... It's in the method and that the methods just don't fit my body proportions.
What I think? If I go with the '36" band' chart, ignore the suggested band size and keep with my 32"s, but follow the breast measuring, I might actually get an accurate measurement... I measure 7" right now that way, which fits with the fact that I'm not even close to filling an A cup.

Meh. I've given up and am just going to go with whatever feels most comfortable and screw the stupid sizing crap. At this point my cup size can only go up and my band size should mostly stay the same anyways! The hardest part is over!
