Spearmint Tea - Reduce Testosterone, Increase Estrogen?

#1

I have been drinking spearmint tea for a while now (about 2 months) because apparently it reduces testosterone and increases estrogen. Ever since I was a young teen I've had a lot of facial hair and hair in places where men usually get it. I also never grew breasts...My chest looking like the chest of a 10 year old boy. I started to wonder if I possibly had too much testosterone and maybe the testosterone was "blocking" my breasts from developping...

So i've been drinking about 2 cups (sometimes 3 cups) of spearmint tea everyday for about 2 months now and I haven't noticed any difference with the facial hair...It's been growing at about the same rate as usual before... (I use Nair cream to remove it)

I'm just wondering if all spearmint teas are suppose to work this way or should I try a specifc brand?

Thank you

You should try another brand. I get mine off of amazon. Make sure its 100% spearmint. Some companies try to mix it in with other teas, and you must brew it properly to work. Let it get to a good boil for a couple mins, then let it steep for 10 mins.

I'm not sure if i'm doing it correctly... I take the spearmint bags, boil the water, once it's boiled I pour it into the cup with the spearmint bag and then I let it sit for a few minuted before drinking it...Is that correct?

Thank you

Also what brand do you use?

I'm thinking about switching to spearmint capsules instead, but the only thing is that I can't swallow pills... Unless they're tiny...

You could also try just eating crushed up leaves straight up or in a salad:

http://www.amazon.com/Spearmint-Crushed-Bag-Box-Each/dp/B000RHVJ06/ref=sr_1_25?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1372888343&sr=1-25&keywords=spearmint

If you buy in 25 lb bulk it's less than $4 a pound. There's also a 3 lb option and that's around $6 a pound. This is including shipping charges to ship to where I live. It could be more or less for you depending how far you live from where it ships from.

Almost identical. Or you could buy your own "diy" tea bags and bag and brew. Then it'd be almost identical to the tea option. Except that you'd be making it yourself and you'd KNOW that it's pure spearmint tea.

It might be slightly better than the capsules because you won't have the capsules themselves to digest as well as the spearmint. But that's splitting hairs really.

True...but I find it hard to drink all that tea sometimes. When I drink a lot I get really bloated and I feel lazy... I also find it very hard to drink that hot tea expecially in the summer on days like today when it's so hot and humid... The capsules might be a better option for me. But thank you so much for the advice I really appreciate it Smile

Well, you don't have to make it a tea. I understand you completely on NOT wanting tea, actually, myself.

Though you could make it an iced tea. Brew it a gallon at a time or something and chill it.

But yeah... Capsules are what I'm doing right now, mainly because I just got done buying like a 5 month supply right before I discovered the bulk leaf option. I don't personally have any trouble swallowing pills.

I actually figure when I end up switching that I'll just individually baggy it into doses and then put it with whatever I'm eating and just eat it straight up. Cuz all my dosing times are also eating times.

Just make sure what your buying is Mentha Spicata. (spearmint)
I use the Tao of Tea brand and literally chew a teaspoon everyday; it breaks down much quicker if you start the digestion process in your mouth.

@abiDrew,
Were you able to find any fresh spearmint locally?
