I put together a product based on all the info I've gathered. But it seems way more complicated than I thought it would be to get started. Even finding the correct regulations is a pain, let alone following them. Does anyone know anyone who has done this before? Or, failing that, how to find manufacturing facilities which could take on a blend?
I would consider other alternatives. At least one of the ingredients is a much better deal in bulk so I'd like to mix it myself, but there might be other ways.

As far as getting them made I recommend making them yourself and building a marketable website. If it becomes too much you can hire someone else to make them. Or if that is still not enough there are companies that make products for you and mail them for you. You show them what to do and they do all the grunt work and you take about 60% of the profits.

Awesome thanks for the starting point. Would you happen to have links to any of those companies, or a googleable term for what they're called in general?
Hiring someone else seems like the way to go, or maybe renting a certified kitchen.
Mixing, bottling and website making is actually the easy part for me. The facilities and regulations were the confusing bit.

I wasn't able to find any companies for supplements but I did find this.

I hope that helps.
I searched for "hire someone to make your product for you"

Well, still thanks a lot for ideas on where to begin. I'll have to search around a bit myself once I get that far.

This'll be helpful for me as well, since I'm considering trying to market my meal replacement snacks.
Though I think the more relevant part of the FDA site is food & supplements not drugs:
http://www.fda.gov/Food/DietarySupplements/default.htm
and
http://www.fda.gov/Food/default.htm
for a more generalized "dashboard" of informative links to parts of the site that are relevant to foods and supplements.
I'm not entirely sure if it'd be better to subclassify as a supplement or just leave it classified as a food and then volunteer additional information anyways for my meal replacement idea.
Joe's idea probably needs to be subclassified.
