i drank this japanese shincha wakana for awhile. i really like it but now i'm back being weak so, i've been cutting my coffee in half since the summer by adding chicory. it's not bad at all, really. i love when i add it to hot water and the water turns this beautiful caramel and it smells like sugar when it's being caramelized almost to the point of burning but not burning. and then, i add only half the coffee i would have added. the stuff i get is called coffee partner. i'm sure lots of companies sell chicory. anyway, it's how i've been dealing with it. one day i won't be weak anymore. and then, i will be the one telling coffee what to do. coffee is like a drug cartel thug and every morning he's slapping me around and hitting me with the butt of his gun. the thug doesn't know that chicory is taking his power away. i don't dislike coffee. i just don't want to be coffee's bitch. anyway, this has been my latest tactic.

ha ha I love how you put that lol. thanks that really sounds great, soo many alternatives to look into now. I guess the good thing about mixing it up you'll never get bored :p OK another thing to add to the shopping list!

at the end of the day I have heard many women on here suddenly get growth when they stop coffee! my mum and sister are both big busted and neither drink coffee so for me its worth a shot!

sometimes, i think i may be a little crazy, experimenting too much. i like peggy's suggestions. they're so much healthier. for the longest time, i grew wheatgrass and started off each morning juicing with a bit of fresh ginger. during the warmer months, it's more difficult to grow unless you can keep the temperature down, after all, it is a winter wheat seed. anyway, i've started growing it again, but you know how it is, afterward, your body still likes the little kick and, i know, a big part of that is psychological. i've found that having a little bit of a ritual helps, you know, where you kind of focus your attention on the new drink you're trying to fall in love with. i'm going to the store, now. i'll pick up some of the rooibos and see if i can establish some intimacy. anyway, i need some commitment. at least, after coffee, i mix up a nutritional drink with a lot of different things in it. really ridiculous, though. i think there are about 19-20 different items, dry and liquid. i don't think i'm obsessive. just, every now and then, i get driven. you know, like ms daisy. haha

Oh I love how you think! I agree with that logic! I'll justify my one coffe with a healthy concoction afterwards too Wink

picked up some green rooibos with black currant and cardamom. drinking some now, really very good. so many teas, was close to going brain dead reading labels. it's happened to me before. saw another rooibos, oxidized, i think, lots of red on the label. had a moment of weakness, ate two chocolate pecan cookies. had a nice conversation with a clerk about all the bulk oils like argan, pine nut, etc. anyway, i don't know what kind of experience others have in grocery stores but i find some shoppers can be so oblivious. so, there i was, reading tea labels, i stood to let an older woman by, she parked herself and her basket between me and the teas where i'd been squatting to examine the little containers. she locked me out. basket plus her, that's like about 60"-70" width of grocery shelf lock-out but i'm so, so nice. i waited for her to finish her oblivious wandering through the landscape of grocery land. i hate my niceness. thx to peggy for mentioning rooibos.

It's fermented which makes it a super food for gut flora and health!! It's in the mushroom family, isn't it?

ive just read some conflicting information re yerba mate.. plus it tastes dreadful. il happily stop with the yerba mate!

but peggy after a brief read up on kombucha that seems like a much safer option, incredible in fact.

what can you drink in the mornings that will give you that little boost caffeine does but without caffeine?

Here in Perú, when we need energy we take maca. BTW I´ve think Yerba Mate has caffeine, so I´ll keep an eye on this thread to get a replacement. Kombucha sounds great so far Smile

Hi, so with the maca in what form do you take it?
Just the powder in a smoothie etc? I did think about taking maca for hormone balancing but then read some women have gotten a bigger behind because of it :s
And yes I read from peggys link that the rooibos actually gives an energy boost so il update when I buy some. I imagine now the kombucha might not taste too flash but again yet to be confirmed Wink
