It depends. If the homemade Kombucha tea is being fermented for e.g. just a week, it will be more sweet and less vinegary. If you wait 14 days or longer, then it is less sweet and tastes a bit vinegary. But Kombucha is also a bit fizzy and reminds me of sparkling wine. I love it. Tongue

Btw you can also make Kombucha with Rooibos tea instead of green or black tea. Big Grin

*GOOGLESKOMBUCHA*

It's fermented which makes it a super food for gut flora and health!! It's in the mushroom family, isn't it?

You are right. Ive read more and more about the importance of gut flora and overall wellness, ive wanted an easy solution to fermented food other than (oh gosh that product name escapes me) but you know what I mean with the cabbage in it!
Sauerkraut...(is there spell check here?) too sour for me!!! OK with mashed potato. Just read on Mercola newsletter fermented foods also detox heavy metals!

Ok so quick update.
Thanks to peggy the rooibos tea is actually quite nice.
I've even put some milk it in (yes I know yuk right) but it actually isn't. For me with milk it tastes like a normal cup of tea with a light rosey taste.

I'l take a quick sip of komubcha now (hold tight).....
OK wow its quite nice!!!

OK so this seems like a solid replacement then for coffee:
Inka (tastes like coffee no caffeine at all)
Rooibos (tastes like normal tea but with a rosey fragrance/taste and no caffeine)
Kombucha (fermented so super good for you and tastes good)

Thanks for the tips guys.

Coffee please, no sugar just cream! Wink

Coffee is a known phytoestrogen that exacerbates adenomyosis. Since it is a phytoestrogen, decaffeinated coffee may still be able to act as an estrogen. Coffee has been also shown to increase estradiol levels in women provoking adenmyosis. Here is the article. In addition, caffeine itself will increase estradiol levels by 70% probably because it ties up the liver.

*Your own estradiol is high. This is usually from taking coffee. 2 cups of coffee will increase your estradiol levels by 70% according to a Bringham Young University Study. The solution is to stop drinking coffee.

*Coffee may do more than give a caffeine boost it could also reduce the risk of developing a particular kind of breast cancer, according to a new study.

Women who drink five or more cups of coffee a day are 57 percent less likely to develop estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer than women who drink less than a cup of coffee a day, said study researcher Jingmei Li, of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

(Not coffee, but interesting, If DHT drops, Test ups, then estrogen is going to skyrocket, imo.
Chinese Black Tea reduces DHT by 72%.. Increases Test by 30%+

(Mice treated with black tea tended to have a greater serum testosterone concentration (34.4%, P = 0.50) and had a 72% lower DHT concentration than controls (P < 0.05), suggesting that black tea may contain components that inhibit the activity of 5-reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone to the more bioactive DHT. Green tea tended to increase serum testosterone and DHT levels by 73.8% (P = 0.14) and 194% (P = 0.076), respectively. The combination of SPC and green tea reduced serum levels of DHT (P < 0.05). )

I think surferjoe would say don't forget the steroidal Sapions in phytoestrogens. Wink
Steroidal saponins are a steroid "building block" that are a blueprint for the body to create its own steroids.

Thanks once again Lotus, your research skills are top notch! Big Grin

And to think I gave up coffee and started drinking green tea as a cancer preventative. I wonder where the balance would be for me on this. Love the roobios too!

On another note, following a link from one of yours, I found estrogen may help improve lung function (at least it did in rats). My current lung function is just over 70% due to my previous cancer and years of smoking. Makes me wonder if this will improve as a side effect of NBE. Cool

http://www.dietaryfiberfood.com/phytoest...trogen.php

In studies involving mice and rats, it was found that lung function may be improved by estrogen. In one study involving 16 animals, female mice that had their ovaries removed to deprive them of estrogen lost 45 percent of their working alveoli from their lungs. Upon receiving estrogen, the mice recovered full lung function

Thanks Scotti, Big Grin

Gonna tie all this together, DHT is OUR breast enemy, also how it relates to SEX HORMONE BINDING GLOBULIN (SHBG), Free T FT, Bound T- BT, etc.

Yes to lower DHT drink green tea and eat Pumpkin seeds! Wink
