Maca and progesterone cream together?

#1

Hey girls,

I'm wondering about this combo. Maca + progesterone cream.
My blood test told me my DHEA is much lower than normal and all my other sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone) are at the lower end of normal. Especially progesterone. However, prolactin, was on the higher range.

So I am thinking about taking Maca since it is supposed to raise DHEA, it explaines why I feel so good while I was taking it, but I need to lower the dose I took before so I will not be taking it daily since it gave me acne and seriously high libido.

I also read that Maca raises testosterone and estrogen, but not sure if it raises progesterone so I was thinking about starting the cream another time. I did before, it made me feel better, but I think my breasts got a little smaller after using it.

Maca raises testosterone and can raise DHT, it must do in my case because of the acne. I read that green tea extract and soy together could greatly reduce the convertion into DHT.

So I was thinking about taking maca, progesterone cream and rotate an anti DHT like green tea extract and soy, zinc, and I saw some people wondering if apple cider vinegar could be a DHT blocker of some kind. At least when I take apple cider vinegar my skin looks fantastic and it is great for acne. So I am including it to my program.

I'm still going to battle the biggest reason for my hormonal imbalance .... STRESS!!! I have some anxiety and I am a stressed person so I am guessing I am giving myself adrenal fatigue by producing so much cortisol that my adrenals can't produce enough DHEA. I guess I need to switch jobs and do something drastic about my relationship. I just started yoga and I love it!!

So I am guessing my stress is giving me small underdeveloped breasts and let's see if all this will help me feel better and give me beautiful normally sized breasts Smile

Please comment if you have any thoughts about this. I feel so alone in this journey since I am not telling my friends any of this. They only believe in medicine and plastic surgery.

Here is an interesting opposing view on the effects of maca on testosterone.

Basically, the studies that were conducted on humans had no control group or really weak results. It did not raise any male hormones either. There are actually several studies showing that maca did not increase any hormones(testosterone, estrogen, progesterone). Maca does, however, nourish the glands that produce the hormones but does not affect the production directly.

Thanks for the reply. I feel some effects while taking maca that could be because of increased testosterone, or maybe because of something else. I read that maca does increase DHEA so it would only increase hormones that are already low in your body I assume. So people with normal hormone levels would not be effected by using it. There are 4 main things that happen while I take maca; 3 related to testosterone.

1. Muscle and strengh gains. I am like superman at the gym and I show incredible improvements in weights.

2. Increased libido. I actually don't like that side effect.

3. Acne. I break out.

4. Increased energy and mood. It makes me feel so goooood.

Thanks for the article. Ellacraig. As soon as I find away to control my acne while using Maca, I am starting on this routine.
