Arthritis is an inflammatory painful joint disorder restricting movement due to the stiffness of joints. The major forms of Arthritis are Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gouty Arthritis, among the various forms of Arthritis, Osteoarthritis is the common form of Arthritis affecting aged adults. The speed of onset differentiates the various forms of Arthritis, the onset of Osteoarthritis is within months while the Rheumatoid Arthritis can onset within weeks and the Gouty Arthritis is a condition prone to recurrent attacks within hours. Red, hot, tender and swollen joints are predominant in Gouty Arthritis. The big toe is often attacked in the disease, joints of the knees, wrists, heels and fingers can also be affected. Joint pain usually begins over night and the duration can be for 2 to 4 hours. The reason for onset at night is due to the lower body temperature. Arthritis therapy is the Ayurvedic Arthritis treatment against the chronic disease, the specific therapy is improving the Arthritis conditions since its inception decades ago. External therapies such as Abhyanga or therapeutic oil massage, Podikkizhi or powder bolus massage, Elakizhi or leaf bolus massage, Njavara or rice bolus massage are used in treatment for Arthritis. The complete treatment for recovery from Arthritis requires 21 days, however, the duration of the treatment depends on the chronic condition of the illness.
