Are phytoestrogens topically ok or not?

#1

I have read about 20 posts; some say no way should you combine TOPICAL phtoestrogens with BO internally. While others say you can put anything topically because it only goes to the area applied and not into the blood stream or something along those lines.

Which is true?

I started UB yesterday but also purchased a Pueraria Mirifica cream for massage but not unsure if I can use the two together.

Someone from Bountiful Breast replied to me about the PM cream and said:

"I think it's fine to use that cream with our product. It's some herbs you need to worry about - they can interfere with BB."

I said it is high in phytoestrogens and she replied:
That cream won't interfere with BB. I don't know how safe it is or anything about it but we do have customers who use it.

Just thought I'd post this here and see what you all think.

Okay let me explain how topicals work... your skin is a huge sponge pretty much, everything you put on your skin goes DIRECTLY INTO THE BLOOD STREAM. Let me say that again, it goes DIRECTLY INTO THE BLOOD STREAM. Ask any dermatologist. The epidermis is made up of many layers, but as I said it's basically a huge sponge. I use to sell natural cosmetics and other products like lotions and such made from all natural ingredients. Part of my pitch was explaining this fact. That is why many store bought lotions can be bad for you. Topicals can sometimes work better than internally taken pills, why? Because when the supplement is taken internally it has to go through the liver, etc. When you apply it topically it bypasses that and goes directly into the blood stream. It's the same concept of how some medications you put under the tongue to dissolve for instant effect.

So basically what I'm trying to say is no, PM cream is not okay to mix with BO. If you wish to use PM cream I suggest taking PM internally as well. But if you are giving BO a go, just take the BO and massage with a cocoa butter cream, I suggest Palmer's. It's never good to overload your system, and that's what you would be doing if you mix PM with BO.

Thanks Anastasia,

I always see your helpful replies on many of the threads here. I will not risk using the PM cream with the BO then. Yes, obviosly it goes into the blood stream...what was I thinking lol?! I guess I ment you don't get the same side effects with topically vs internally but that doesnt mean I can use both because the PM would still be in my system with the BO!

I also thought it was ok to use anything topically because last week I went to a pharmacist who told me I could take both Claritin internally and Benadryl topically because he said externally would not interfere with what I was taking internally. I remember he said that which also added to me thinking the BO and PM would be a similar situation.

No offense to anyone that might be a medical professional on here... but in my opinion MOST not all but most doctors and pharmacists don't know what they are talking about. Especially when it comes to natural medicines and methods. For example... I have told a few different doctors and pharmacists what I do in NBE before and after I grew with it, before I grew they laughed and said the only way is through surgical means, except for one female OB/GYN I went to she thought it was interesting, and that was in the middle of my growing, I had grown 2 inches when I mentioned it to her during a breast exam. She noticed I had more there than before Wink the other doctors and pharmacists I have told, even AFTER growing as much as I have, know what they said? "Oh that's because you are still in your young 20's, you only grew from your normal body functions, not anything else you did." Or, now this one I find hilarious because over the past 5 years I haven't gained much weight, and the weight I did gain went to my lower body "that's because you gained weight, when women gain weight they grow breast wise."

So anyway, and same with pharmacists, like recently I went to walmart to pick up some things and stopped by the pharmacy area to get some garlic capsules and some olive leaf extract since Mel recommended it. I asked the pharmacist about it to see how many mg's I should take. She looked at me like I was stupid, said she has never heard of olive leaf extract helping BP or cholesterol, but that garlic can help but that I would be better off with meds and seeing a doctor. No thanks I like my liver and I don't want the side effects. So I've been taking the garlic and olive leaf and guess what happened? My BP went down and I bet my cholesterol has too, still have to go get it checked, waiting on time off from work during the week. And when I say my BP went down, it went down to levels it hasn't been at in a few years!

So take what pharmacists and doctors say with a grain of salt. I'm telling you facts about how the skin works, your skin is a huge organ, most people don't think of it that way, but it is. It has many functions and like I said it's a huge sponge that is why I'm careful what I put on my skin from lotion to sanitizer to cleansers.
