Spearmint may have an effect on iron absorption ( at least the tea form). So we should be careful with excess.

Hey I´ve read something intesting wrote by SarahSchilling:

(...) "I've read that taking estrogens/phytoestrogens can desensitize your body to thyroid hormones, so many people that are borderline may become hypo, and those that are already hypo may get worse". (...)

Hi y'all.
I decided to take bulk PM. I noticed within a couple of days, that it made me, uhm very moist, uncomfortably.
Everything was going kinda okay, so I upped my dose from 1/8 tsp twice to three times per day. I figured that this was around 900 mg per day. Well, it was the next month after that ( I was not cycling it while on SP and FG) that my period was late. In fact, I decided to just stop the PM to get my period to show up. And when it came, Aunt Flow was outta control! I had a ton of blood clots and fairly heavy bleeding.
As I write this now, after over a week on my period, I am crossing my fingers that my period is finishing for this month within the next couple of days. I just started supplementing with black-strap, unsulphered molasses. The great thing is that it is a good source of iron! I was actually worrying about anemia for the first time with a period. I don't know how much stuff I had stored before this period came out! It seemed like more than I weigh and I think I actually got a little dehydrated from fluid loss. Anyway, I learned a valuable lesson. I might take a break from PM.
Listen to your bodies y'all. The body- it talks! Blessings!

    Thyroid and phytoestrogens,

Although the first link is lengthy, the attachment posted states how the thyroid is effected from phyto's.

Understanding how phytoestrogens (soy) effects your thyroid is well documented, just do a basic search and you'll see. Please know the difference about fermented soy and the age old theory about Asian cultures. http://www.optimumchoices.com/Soy.htm

So to avoid confusion, would you agree Lotus that the controversy of thyroid complications and phytoestrogens are only directed at "SOY" isoflavones? Fermented soy in moderation is ok(good) but its is the more processed soy we have to be made aware of ie tofu soy milk, processed soy products which are not.
This has no bearing on other "phytoestrogens" that a lot of us are consuming ie the fenugreeks, fennels & the likes..?
